Don't think I'd even want to try.
Why put yourself through that!

I get that people want to challenge themselves. And to then video it for attention and the hope that it goes viral. Personally I do enjoy watching people that do this kind of challenge suffer to see their reactions.

The Carolina Reaper isn't the hottest chili pepper in the world any longer, not by a long shot. Pepper X is now the top.

'Pepper X as the world's hottest chili pepper, measuring 2.69 million SHU, beating the previous world record of 1.64 million SHU held by the Carolina Reaper'

There was a one chip challenge, but one person died. But not sure if it was from the chili / chip itself. Some of the videos of people trying them are fun to watch.

Each to their own....

As that video was many many years ago. There has been much hotter peppers and challenges since then.

The one chip challenge is a recent one. Also Hot ones, a youtube channel where celebrities are interviewed while eating increasingly hotter sauces on chicken wings.

I grew Carolina Reapers a few years back. One small sliver hurt so bad that I knew I would never sample a fresh pod again. But once dried and powdered, it makes a common addition to my food.

Pepper-X may hold the record, but the sauce made by Puckerbutt is very disappointing. Jim Currie will not be selling seed or pods with seeds to the public, as he says it's his turn to make money from his crosses.

A friend and near neighbour runs a very successful international chilli company, selling his own sauces, pods, powders, chilli salts, etc. I can tolerate all but his two hottest products. But they are condiments, not sauces, as they contain capsaicin extract (nasty stuff).
