Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Skyfall - Not that much of a Bond fan, I expected it to be a lot more exciting. Although it was good to see Albert Finney, who, coincidental was born in my home town of Salford.
6½/10 |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Some Guy Who Kills People.
7/10 |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Skyfall... The best Bond film of all time? Hell no.............
I want Bond to be fighting meglomaniac villians who are intent on taking over the world, either by launching a nuclear missile at a city thus starting WW3, or using a laser from space to destroy islands. Where were the gadgets, where were the fast cars??? This wasn't James Bond, this was some action film in the vein of Taken. It was average at best. 5 out of 10 from me. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Django Unchained - 9/10
If you enjoyed Inglourious Basterds wou will enjoy this. I think it was even better. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
The Sweeney - 8/10
Pretty impressed at Plan B's performance, not bad for an uber-chav. At times it's hard to understand what Ray Winstone is saying as he overdoes the the 'cockney growl' a bit and it has plenty of stereotypical London cop-isms such as "You slaaaaaag", "shaht up" etc but on the whole one of the best British films I've seen in a while. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Just finished watching Cloud Atlas. It's the best film I've seen in years... Jim Broadbent was great.

Would have got 9 but the scene underwater were the bullet where whizzing past them. If they had watched Mythbusters they would have know that bullets cannot penetrate water that deep. |

Anyway. I loved it. Also found it consistently good, rather than very slow in parts (Pulp Fiction) or just slow all round (Kill Bill Part 2). |

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Skyfall (sorry, Skyfawwwwww, when it crumbuwwwwwwws)
9/10 - easily one of the best Bonds ever. Felt more like a reboot really with old regulars moving on and new people brought in. I liked how they made 007 seem almost human for once (getting shot and very nearly getting killed) although the stunt he did after taking a bullet while controlling the crane (landing in a train on his feet, tidying his jacket and walking on) kind of spoilt it for me a bit. I hope it's not his last as has been suggested because it did feel like a new beginning. Oh and an awful (or should that be awfuwwww) soundtrack. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Ides of March - 8/10.
Really enjoyable political drama. |
Last movie i saw was ALIEN (1979) and it was excellent!
I found the official VHS tape the other day (THANKFULLY NO DIGITAL COMPROMISE) and it was quite good :) |

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Les Miserables 8/10
really enjoyed it although at times it did seem too long. I even shed a few tears during the movie! very emotional scenes and songs. |

The colours arent as good and the audio isnt as nice.... I wish they would leave them alone!!!!!!! -- VHS is thankfully NOT dvd (Which i dont like) Dont infect them with that digital garbage!! |

You don't need to shout - I'm blind not deaf ;)
It was not an expression I'd heard before is all. If you think VHS is better than dvd / blu ray than fair play to you :tu: |
Im sorry for the caps, ill edit my reply!

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
No problem :)
|
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Digital remastering doesn't mean they have messed with the film, but reather cleaned it up and got it back t looking how it originally did.
There is no way I could sit and watch a VHS now after so many years of DVD and currently Blu Ray. Heck I still own a Laserdisc player though, now that was a great format :) |

Skyfall 9/10. enjoyed that and the length was spot on. it didnt drag out at all. i wanted to give it 10 but id of liked a little more wit.

i have booked to go see les mis with Natalie later on. i can only hope the audio description track is good, as they've been lacking of late.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Skyfall. 5/10 at best.
Casino royale was much better. Not seen Quantum Of Solace so can't comment there. Skyfall, however just felt like it had no substance to it. A bit of the old knees-bent running-around crap. And that was it. The baddy was awful. How he managed to get so many people working for him to fulfill a personal vendetta I'll never know. Yeah. Bit of a crappy film to be honest. |

And airports don't have manhole covers in the runways, transport planes don't have ejector seats, 747s don't have external fuel dump valves, Berettas don't have 22 round magazines - but it's called 'artistic licence for dramatic effect', not 'documentary'...:D

I last saw MARKED MAN -- 10/10!!!!!!
I love that movie :) |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
The Dark Knight Rises.
5/10 Tired plot. Hardly any Batman. Too many English people trying to pass themselves off as Americans. Ridiculously characterless bad guy - Grant Mitchell (or any meat-head of your choice) in half a Darth Vader mask (the mask helps keep the pain away. Really? Try vodka)dubbed with someone else's completely unsuitable voice, shuffling around in a scruffy sheepskin coat. I've seen more intimidating (and interesting) villains in my toilet bowl on a Sunday morning.... Meh.... If you disagree with my opinion, tough, I have a whole bottle of wine sloshing through my veins, and it's MONDAY tomorrow. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
I'm pretty sure Tom Hardy did the voice and the acting. His voice was just modified.
|
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Unthinkable
I thought before watching it that it wasn't going to be very good... But omg it really got me thinking about stuff and it was great how it made me change the way I thought about things like that as the film progressed!! Very thought provoking!! |

Rather than making a new thread I might as well put it here....
Compliance (2012). -/10 I've seen a lot of films and I don't normally react to anything I watch but this film really annoyed the hell out of me. So much I had to FFWD parts of it which is a first for me as I knew what was coming, but was so annoyed at the stupidity that I couldn't watch it. Could this only happen in the US, as I can not see it happening anywhere else. Also on the DM today http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ruel-hoax.html |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Wreck-it ralph.
7/10. TBH, I dismissed it when I first heard about it as just another cutesy cartoon, but while it has the obvious Disney moments where it's a very over emotional, it has enough enjoyable moments, and enough references to arcade games from the 80s and 90s to make it very enjoyable for a long term arcade game geek like me.. |

Iron Man 3
Loved it :D IMO...Better than Iron Man 1 & 2, but not quite as good as The Avengers. The Avengers > Iron Man 3 > Iron Man 1 > other MCU films. Great fun, great action, and also bloody hilarious in places. RDJ is awesome as always, while Guy Pearce and Ben Kingsley are both excellent. It was good too to see Pearce have a decent sized role again. Make sure you stay for the obligatory post-credits scene! 9.5/10 |

|
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Iron Man 3 9/10
Outstandingly brilliant. I think the new director has brought a lot to the third movie and the humor has been increased a lot. Ben Kingsley was fab and had me in stitches. Way better than IM2 for sure. Post credit scene was well worth staying for very funny and unexpected too. Well I knew there was one as usual but didn't expect who was in it. I thought the 3D was ok even though it was only a post conversion. D-Box at Cineworld also added a whole new dimension to the film. Feeling every bump and gunshot and movement when Tony was flying |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
I went to see oblivion last night. It was not bad.
