I think it`s the first time i`ve seen a zombie like film where the bloody zombies could run as fast as the un-affected though.

I had to drag myself out of bed at 4 for work this morning and driving through London was a just wee bit earie to say the least.

Going to watch 28 weeks later ...later.

Get hold of a copy of the the remake of Dawn of the Dead, immeasurably superior film also with "fast" zombies.

Last king of scotland 2/10
Really dull. "In my country" and "Blood diamond" were both so much better for different reasons.
Really didn't care about the main charactor. Forest Whitaker really needs to get his eyelids sorted out.
The only interesting bit for me was the Israeli hostages and that was only because it reminded me of Raid on Entebbe with Charles Bronson (6/10)

Confetti 6/10
Actually not bad, there was nothing else to watch so gave it a go. The wedding organisers are fantastic, and there are a few funnny moments.
Definitely a veg out movie if there's nothing better on, and the end is good.

The Matrix Reloaded (HD DVD)

Hmm.

Not watched this since 2003.

Surprisingly not anywhere near as crap as I remember.

7.5/10

Still not a patch on the original, but not too bad.

Worst scene was that really dull sequence in Zion, with Morpheus' speech, & then the dancing / sex. YAWN.

But the rest was good.

Burly Brawl was better than I remembered, & the Freeway Chase was excellent.

The Matrix Revolutions (HD DVD)

8/10 (10/10 with bonus points for Monica Belucci ;) ).

No really lame bits in it, like the dance/sex scene in Reloaded.

Very enjoyable. Excellent "Dock Battle".

2 & 3 were such a let down for me when I first saw them.

I loved 1, thought it was amazing. So I had a lot of hope for 2 & 3. Plus they had a hell of a lot of hype. So much hope & so much hype, that there was no way they could live up to it.

Watching them now, a few years later, without all the expectations, & without all the hype, they are actually not that bad. Not as good as the 1st, but still worth a watch.

Ghost rider 8/10
Bit slow to start but the effects are good, no slow moody bits like Spiderman3, didn't spot Stan "the man" Lee, so I'm going to have to watch it again.

Celestine Prophecies 6/10
Not as good as the book, doesn't explain things as well as it should, a bit low budget (it all went on the aura effects I guess), but it did remind me how disconnected from the universe I've become in my cynical old age :(

Very intreaguing, you just want to keep watching, definitely not one to leave your brain at the door for.
The space scenes (with a spherical spaceship) have a beautiful nebula not made with CGI :)

Blood and Chocolate - 2/10
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.
Can I sue for my wasted time?

Arthur and the invisibles - 7/10
Very enjoyable, sometimes felt badly edited though.

Music and lyrics - 7/10

I read somewhere that it's something you really have to engage your brain in and so it's not suitable for the kids..? I haven't watched it though, so I can't comment.

Just finished watching 28 weeks later. It was a great film, but it's hard to actually relax considering the contrast in the volume of the dialog, for example one second somebody's whispering, the next a hoard of Zombies (which is obviously central to the storyline) are screaming their arses off..but I guess that's what it's all about :P

Didn't realise it was this late either. Think I'd best be heading off to get some rest..

Found the storyline a tad confusing and it seemed more like it was building upto the next film so not one you could watch without having seen the others. However it was overall really good so 8/10 from me....

If it's 'proper' imax 3d - it will be very impressive.

The imax is an amazing place to see films - saw Matrix reloaded, and revolutions there - they were very well suited to the massive screen.

They also gave us a demo of the 3D system there - it was none of the crappy blue and red glasses stuff - yes you do need glasses for it, but they have normal looking lenses.
The 3d was so realistic

Die Hard 4 ---- 6/10

My reason for the low'ish score is because its was just too OTT, the jet, the hacking into whatever on a mobile, the dialogue, I can go on and on. But the action was good, still enjoyable, just could have been a whole lot better.

Maybe if it was an 18 cert and instead of just cashing in / selling out, it could have worked out better.

SOSAGES 20-07-2007 09:29

re: Rate the last movie you saw

i watched the fantastic 4 (silver surfer)

Now why oh why do most super hero films suck. Special effects do not make a film, naff jokes and a naked lady do not make a film. F4 silver surfer is almost as bad as the original original fantastic 4 (the one that never got a release but u can get it if u look hard enough) I feel that Fantastic 4 should be relegated to the naff section of superhero films along with any Xmen + Hulk + dredevil + electra film all a disapointment all filmed in exactly the same way and all of them lacking the very basics of a Good film. Its almost like watching a film by Roland Emmerich but at least he can be witty sometimes.
2/10 and thats JUST for the idea that Alba was naked...

I also had the pleasure to watch The Philidelphia Story (No not the tom hanks film) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032904/
The Philidelphia Story has some big names staring in it but as i didnt grow up watching them it didnt make me think "ohhh this must be good" - Anyway after watching the philidelphia story i gotta say that Grant, Stewart and Hepburn are masters. The story was fantastic (originally a play) and the filming/music was superb the only bad thing was i didnt understand why stewart feel in love with herpburn so quickly.
anyway 10/10

To continue my new found love for westerns i dug up Pale rider / unforgiven / the outlaw josey wales. I shall be watching them next.

Next up is Transformers............

well this happens a lot, its a useless script, naff plot, and semi ok acting.
But Michael Bay does it again for me, i just love his films. Just like don simpson movies i think they are rubbish but i just enjoy them.

Best bit about transformers "ONE SHALL STAND, ONE SHALL FALL" they could of carried on the line a little more but you cant have it all.

Anyway by no means a good film but oh yes i almost cried at the end and i did a little WOOP.

It just the long list of crap but excellent films that you have to watch with your brain turned off.
8/10

Could of been a 10 IF! they used original models + had more megatron + prime fights +
Spoiler:
didnt actually go round killing transformers i dont like seeing them dead.

I can only hope that with the second film they actually think about what to do and not showcase what $200 million buys you at ILM :)

Absolutely incredible film, best GCI I have ever seen. OK the plot was a bit weak but who cares when you've got tanks, planes, jeeps, cars, CD players that can turn in to robots?

Excellent little dig at Indian callcentres too :D

The must see film of the year. Finally getting to see giant robots fighting and blowing stuff up. Also the cast were brilliant.

Michael Bay is due a serious kicking, not since Episode one when "Uncle George" urinated all over my childhood, have I felt this let down by a much anticipated film.

The story line was poor, but when you heard Peter Cullen's voice as Prime, you could kind of forget that, but then to hear Hugo Weaving as Megatron!?!
His voice lacked all the menace and venom of Frank Welker's Megatron, they kept him for the game, why not the movie?

All in all what a waste of £5

One of the stories floating around the net which I read was Frank did not like the storyline one bit and refused to do the movie when asked.

Transformers. Suprisingly few people in the cinema, sadly..perhaps it was just because it was early..either way, this film was fantastic. Wouldn't say it's one for the younger kids though but I'm sure the action would grip them anyway. It's brilliant, 9.5/10

I would give my left gonad for the cinema to be that quiet everytime I go. I hate the constant chomp chomp of popcorn and kids nattering for the whole film. I went on Tuesdays to watch HP5 for a second time hoping for a bit more peace than the week before some stupid cow took a crying baby I mean whats that all about

Hostel Part 2 - 9/10

Excellent film, brilliant death scenes a few nice surprises in there which I wasnt prepaired for to boot. I could see a story line to finish this as a trilogy with that weird chap always saying "I can help you"

Great film

Harry Potter 3D @ imax Glasgow

fantastic.......

I dont read the books but I do like the films.

and the 3D was great, very impressive, although, more of it could have been in 3D, somebits were a bit fuzzy, I think they tried to make it to 3D, but still fantastic.

ik

Harry Potter at the IMAX London, which has the largest screen in Britain. To give you a rough idea, the screen is about 4 storeys tall.

Can't remember how much the tickets cost, as I booked them back in June, but IIRC, they were roughly in line with London cinema prices (so ,about £11 to £12). Large popcorn and coke for £3 each item.

Popcorn tasted microwaved, but was no better or worse than the popcorn at my local Vue cinema (and the prices were slightly lower, and the service considerably quicker).

The trailers were all presented in 3D, so we had lots of clips of dinousaurs poking their heads out of the screen, and walking over the camera, which caused most of the audience to jump. The 3D looked amazing and added real depth to the picture.

8/10

Then, on to the main film. It was amazing. It was exciting, possibly slightly scary for kids, and funny in places. The battle at the Ministry of Magic was presented in 3D, and, while in places, the two images weren't aligned properly, it did look amazing.

Oh, and the 12KW , 40 channel sound system meant it was loud and sounded amazing.

Blood Diamond - Incredibly powerful and moving, based on a true story (Shame about Leonardo Di Caprio's iffy South African accent though)

Think somebody mentioned Equilibrium absoloutely fantastic film, Did not go down well at the cinema but has attraced a huge cult following.

For anyone who loves their dark, black comedys I can highly reccomend Fargo.

Excellent films :tu:

"Equilibrium" is a favourite of mine. The "Gun Kata" is especially great :D Pity Kurt Wimmer's next movie, "UltraViolet" was so poor :(

"Fargo" is brilliant. If you like that, then I'd recommend "Blood Simple". I do like most of the Coen Brothers' other movies, but those two are definitely my favourites.
