Is there Life On...Venus?

It's an extraordinary possibility - the idea that living organisms are floating in the clouds of Planet Venus.

But this is what astronomers are now considering after detecting a gas in the atmosphere they can't explain.

That gas is phosphine - a molecule made up of one phosphorus atom and three hydrogen atoms.

On Earth, phosphine is associated with life, with microbes living in the guts of animals like penguins, or in oxygen-poor environments such as swamps.

For sure, you can make it industrially, but there are no factories on Venus; and there are certainly no penguins.
This now apparently the closest evidence we've yet had of life on other planets. We found methane on Mars but we know that some geological processes can produce that. We don't have an explanation of phosphine on venus that can be explained through anything other than some basic life.

Maybe there is something geological process on Venus but not earth than can cause this but still.

Piffle. They'll be telling us there's intelligent life west of the Pennines next.

I'm sorry to go off topic but I really do have to address such an uninformed comment.

I realise that few from over on the East of the Pennines realise that us on the Right have any brains but we must have or else we would never have sussed that a "Yorkshireman is a Scotsman with all the generosity squeezed out of him" so that they never consider spending the cash to venture out of their White Rose retreat into the more intelligant Red Rose splendiferous area to the West of the Pennines. 😄😄😄

I wonder if it floated thru space and ended up there??
