2 Attachment(s)
Am looking to have our home wired up to Cat6A Ethernet

We are looking at £584 for the cable 1000m - Cat6a U/FTP LSOH Solid Cable (Reel)

two Double Port in the two bedrooms so total cables to bedrooms will be 13

two Quad Port Faceplate for living room so total cables to living room room will be 16

And have them go to under the stairs

The cables will need to put in the wall as our flooring is a no go

what cost are we looking at

A kilometer of cable? How big is your chateau?

A lot of money, the cost of materials will be small as a percentage of labour costs.

Chasing cables into the walls is not an easy job.

I wired our 3 bed semi with under 50m, but was able to use direct routes through walls and ceilings.

Chasing into walls is expensive as you also have to pay for the new regulation conduiting. Surface mounting in conduit is far cheaper and you don't have to do much redecoration.

Why not just put a mesh Wi-fi system instead?

We have AiMesh support but am looking at Poe for CCTV

Our internal walls are all plasterboard As we need room for the air source heating pipes from the radiators to behind all the walls. So we will not need to touch brick to run the cables

How are you wiring it??????

2x double ports x2 = 8 ports (8 cables)
2x quad ports = 8 ports (8 cables)

Total cables 16 not the 29 you have come up with.

Something like this:

Built-in Powerline Ethernet Kit

could save you money if you can do the socket changes yourself.

They're fairly easy if you can use a screwdriver and understand basic electrical circuits.

Max gross speed 200Mbps so after powerline overheads about 75Mbps. Not exactly future proof.
