Bunch of idiots

https://news.sky.com/story/extinctio...tinue-11830634

My personnel view on this is, whaty a bunch of idiots. No matter what aggro they cause. They wont change anything. All the activists are doing is taking hard working police officers off the streets of London. To prevent crime.

And yet they are nicking these people, who wont change anything for what they are protesing about. The Government are not interested in what they are doing.
To me if anyone who is arrested is on benefit. I would stop it to teach them a lesson. They are committing a crime, therefore sdtop there benefit.

In the world there are people who are trying to stop things from happening. It wont change a thing

These people drive a diesel 4x4 towing a trailer and then chain themselves underneath it to moan about using fossil fuels, listening to tv broadcasts it's clear they don't want to personally give up anything it's all up others to do it.

There are plenty of people who don't have a diesel 4x4 towing a trailer and there are many who don't have a car or any vehicle at all.

So l gather because they believe in climate change they must be idiots as well?.

Agreed.
It's gone way past believing it or not, the data is now irrefutable to all but those who don't want to hear it.

Even if they don't drive wastefull 4x4's I wonder how many of them would give up hot baths, showers and a warm house in winter? Or stop buying the latest mobiles that cause such environmental damage in China to make them? Or fashion clothes that are only worn once and then dumped in landfil?

They only look to others to make a sacrifice, never themselves. Utter hypocrits.

Still they ignore the elephant in the room: There are too many people on the planet by about 10 fold.

Just a shower in our household and in the winter we only turn on the heating as and when it is required.

Talking about water . . .

remember when you drank water from the tap?

now damn near everyone is drinking it from (plastic) bottles. I wonder how much of an 'environmental impact' that has, considering the work involved to produce the bottles, bottle the water, and transport it all over the country . . not to mention disposing of the empties.

cue cries of "oooh but tap water tastes crap etc"

The plastic bottle is part of the rebellion's survival kit, like disposable tents, disposable cups, and Mcdonalds various burger meals.

It doesn't really Den, by the time even the most dense realise there's a problem, it'll be too late. Climate Change can't be reversed overnight, unlike here today gone tomorrow politicians who see no further than the next election. Even if we made all the changes now, it would take decades to have an effect. That doesn't mean we should make those changes. If a deadly asteroid was heading for us they'd be running around no doubt... However the same result from each, utter devastation.

Increasingly this is what people are (re)doing. There has been a lot of attention to buying reusable water bottles, you see these: https://www.chillysbottles.com/uk around London a lot. There are also refillable water stations that give out free tap water for use in these refillable bottles.

You have to be pretty gullible to take these crusties seriously. Do they not even appreciate that the UK is leading the way in its plans to go carbon neutral?

They should take their protest to one of the big polluters like China. I know what they would do with them!

Maybe the change isn't fast enough and they are concerned that the world is already tipping into not having the time to prevent uncontrollable climate change? That the PTB are dragging their feet and delaying the changes that need underpinning? That the PTB are not really actively involved in really getting to grip with what needs doing? That short termism is really what is driving what decisions are being made?

I'm not quite sure how much the UK can do to 'save the planet' when we are but a small cog in a vast machine.

I remember Sting and other celebs campaigning about the demise of rain forests years ago, nothing changed.

Some nations/countries have some sort of 'carbon tax' system that apparently does something useful.

If sanctions are applied to countries that actively continue in 'bad practices', the sanctions often make things worse.

If I reduce 10% of my carbon quota (or whatever it is), someone somewhere in a 3rd world nation will probably increase theirs by 15% trying to catch up.

So what's your solution? Because we need one. Change has to start somewhere. I'm all for sanctions against countries who aren't dealing with the issue. Yes it would cause us economic damage, but not as much as climate change will. If the EU acts together that's a lot of clout (which is why being a member is so beneficial to us).

Actually, it starts with the biggest contributors to Climate Change, which is the energy sector, which represents over 70% of greenhouse gas emissions, but because people want change, this is reducing.

Whilst each individual can contribute, it won't make the difference that major companies can.
