Poor channel audio balance

I keep finding that when I change channels, sometimes the audio is weak and I have to pump up the volume, and then on another channel I have to frantically grab the remote and lower it quick.

I must see if it follows a pattern, not sure if it's a HD vs SD thing, as I'm usually selecting the HD version where available

Re: Poor channel audio balance

Variations in channel volume is frustrating. Some of them have me turning the volume almost all the way up to hear anything.

And then the adverts come on, and the house shakes like it's been hit by an earthquake...

Auto levelling is not that good a way to go either as it over amplifies quiet bits of a show, and flattens any loud bits.

Re: Poor channel audio balance

Generally the channels with Dolby audio (most of the HD ones) seem quieter because the dynamic range is greater. It's done intentionally by the broadcasters.

There's a chance that changing the TiVo's Dolby setting will help.
