Yeah it's just worded in such a way as to make you think that, infact they are upgrading it to version 7.5 and changing the whole base program, you can get it here with no probs. :)

Can I suggest http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/ for a good free (for life) firewall.

well in 2005 it might have been free, but now its full of crappy free (the word free doesnt equate to freeWARE)to download and pay for apps so thats now off this long running thread (nice by the way)

heres some more (real) freeware
http://www.freecommander.com/index_en.htm
"freeCommander is an easy-to-use alternative to the standard windows file manager. The program helps you with daily work in Windows. Here you can find all the necessary functions to manage your data stock. You can take freeCommander anywhere - just copy the installation directory on a CD, USB-Stick or even a floppy disk - and you can even work with this program on a foreign computer."

better cross platform GUI scripting take a look
rebol/view
for a better crossplatform GUI scripting take a look at rebol/view

one script, run on many OS's

http://www.rebol.com/pre-view.html
http://www.rebol.com/docs/quick-start2.html
http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2.../30/rebol.html

i think you might find this rebol/view script interesting as it shows how you might make multi platform front ends etc
just download this rebol script and double click it to load up the rebol/view ( i assume you did install it already, i think you will like the look 8)
http://www.rebol.org/library/scripts/menu-system-demo.r

download (free for personal use, forever)rebol view for your OS here
http://www.rebol.com/view-platforms.html

it would be nice to see some pro looking GUI's for the many existing shell/cli apps that use rebol/view as their starting point, then everyone could take these and extend the full usability as more and more people chip in to help 8)

some ready made scripts to read and run

http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...2&postcount=84
for a giggle try this rebol view web server, very good it is and so small an portable you wont beleave it ;)
install this windows rebol view

go here http://www.tgd-consulting.de/Download.html#ServeIt
and grab 77KB http://www.tgd-consulting.de/REBOL/ServeIt.r

I'd like to add the following:

IRC client
KVIrc: http://www.kvirc.net/ (one of the best free IRC clients I've ever used)

Audio player
XMPlay: http://www.un4seen.com/

XMPlay is more for people who want a very small non-install audio player. It also contains the best tracker playing engine, BASSMOD. Supports MP3/2/1, Wave, Ogg Vorbis, MOD, S3M, IT, XM, MO3, UMX. One very good thing about it is it supports Winamp input and DSP plugins.
