You need a SCART to composite and audio lead and set the DVD to output composite to the SCART connection. (SCART can feed individual colours if the receiving device can use them) The RGB connectors on the DVD are to feed individual colours to the TV or other device. This connection allows a better quality picture and the use of progressive scan output. I use this to connect my Sony HDD/DVD to the Sony Bravia. HTH Welcome to the forum. |

Actually I'd suggest this. It's a proper component to HDMI adapter
So that's the RGB video connections plus red and white for audio Portta YPbPr Component + R L to HDMI Converter v1.3 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0088HO1..._FRWYBb4R6CBC5 And then you'd need an appropriate component cable between the DVD player and converter AmazonBasics Component Video Cable with Audio - 1.83 meters https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01D5H8C..._PTWYBb57P8RT5 |

Why not just buy a new dvd player or blueray player with a hdmi output?

TBH the best option is just upgrade the Blu-ray/DVD and give the old one to the kids.
