Cabinet reshuffle?

The prime minister is set to reshuffle his cabinet today, a Downing Street source has said.

"Yesterday the PM set out his plan for managing COVID during the autumn and winter," the source said.

"But the government must also redouble our efforts to deliver on the people's priorities. The PM will be appointing ministers this afternoon with a focus on uniting and levelling up the whole country."
Who do we think will stay/get promoted/demoted?

Re: Cabinet reshuffle?

Gavin Williamson must be prime candidate for being moved sideways. As Laura Klinsberg said on R4 World at One, it's better to have these people inside the tent rather than festering on the back benches. She did suggest he might get shunted off to be NI secretary, usually the place to park people where they cannot do any significant damage.

I think the Chancellor and the health secretary are fairly safe.

Gavin Williamson @GavinWilliamson - It has been a privilege to serve as Education Secretary since 2019. Despite the challenges of the global pandemic, I’m particularly proud of the transformational reforms I’ve led in Post 16 education: in further education colleges, our Skills agenda, apprenticeships and more.

This programme will create better life opportunities for pupils and students for many years to come. I look forward to continuing to support the Prime Minster and the government.

There's rumours going around that Gavin Williamson might go to NI - one of my relatives who lives over there said "I know Boris doesn't care about us, but I didn't realise he hated us...". :D

I’ve read he’s been relegated to the Back Benches. NI spared.

Left wing snowflakes are killing comedy, tearing down historic statues, removing books from universities, dumbing down panto, removing Christ from Christmas and suppressing free speech. Sadly, it must be true, history does repeat itself. It will be music next.
Question is : What's she going to do about it?

It appears to be the equivalent of playing chess with dog poop, you can move the pieces as much as you want but at the end of the day they’re still bits of dog poop…….

For balance the would apply to the opposition in its current state.

Nadine Dorries promoted to Culture?!
The remaining Chuckle brother would have been a better bet.

A knighthood for Gav after the wonderful job he's done at Education? He really has got the dirt on Bozza !

Gavin Williamson is being tipped for a knighthood in a move likely to anger parents, teachers and unions.

The former education secretary is expected to feature in the Prime Minister’s next honours list after being sacked in the reshuffle, according to Whitehall sources.

When approached by The Telegraph, the MP for South Staffordshire declined to comment, saying it was “not something I have heard about”.

But there are suggestions that Boris Johnson may have made the offer to soften the blow of Mr Williams's departure from the Cabinet on Wednesday.

Although his sacking had been anticipated after he faced widespread criticism over his handling of his departmental responsibilities during the Covid-19 crisis, Mr Johnson had kept him in post despite numerous calls for his resignation.

The gaffe-prone politician once again hit the headlines last week by confusing England footballer Marcus Rashford with rugby player Maro Itoje.

Ridiculed by the press as a “Private Pike” figure, and likened to hapless Frank Spencer from the TV sitcom Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em by his own Conservative colleagues, Mr Williamson’s days had long been numbered.

Yet until Wednesday, the former chief whip’s reputation as a “master of the dark arts” who “knows where the bodies are buried” appeared to have afforded him some job security.
