Wasn't that a 'falling' cow?

And for an army team being tracked, weren't they making a lot of noise ie whistling, singing etc??

Now I'd give it a 7 / 10 - it suffers from the fact that:

a) it's a fifteen,
b) it's an Alien film without Ripley (although I understand why), and
c) it's a Paul WS Anderson film

However, it's a decent enough film in it's own right, and the fights between the Aliens and Predators (which is the only reason anyone is going to see the film) were pretty good.

The problem is that it's not as good as it should be, but that's why it only gets a 7 ;)

Do you have any info on that mate? I just looked on IMDB. There is (or rather was) a Goonies 2, but it was made in 1987. There's nothing about Goonies 3 on there.

Edit: nevermind: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/148...headlines=true and that Goonies 2 was a computer game it looks like.

Yup I didn't notice the VG on the end of Goonies 2 until just now :dunce: It sounds promising, Richard Donner directing (he did the first one) and Speilberg, no less, producing.

They have bought a script and are waiting for the go ahead from Warner Bros.

Well I've just watched T3 and, frankly, I was pretty disappointed.

It was too much T2 revisited, Arnie protecting John Connor whilst being chased by an unstoppable killing machine.

And the ending (no spoilers) was, frankly, a bit of a let down.

Not impressed.

Now I enjoyed T3, it had more plot and less action than T2. I liked the way they kickstarted the story again.

T3 was only out at the flicks during summer 2004 and was on channel 5 last night - "they" must have changed the rules and C5 must have paid a premium to show it so soon.

I quite liked it.

Certainly no T2, but not too bad, I think.

Although that's probably because my expectations of it were so low, seeing as it wasn't being done by Cameron this time.

Quite a good film that leaves you guessing until the end.
Has a good storyline to it, but is quite gruesome in areas so not for the faint hearted.
Apart from that, its a good film....Denzel Washington does not dissapoint.

It's Biel, not Alba. And she's very fit in it :D

Not a bad film, actually, although not as good as Blade 1 or 2 I think.

AvP....I found it a disappointment. I may get the director's cut DVD though when that comes out in R1, as that should hopefully be better, & more as originally intended (or it could still stink...)

A bit quirky but a pretty reasonable watch. I think the kids enjoyed it as well.

Oh and I watched the new Sindarella from Jim Davidson - 8/10 (Quite rude, but it was funny in parts)

Re: Rate the last movie you saw...

Went to see blade trinity yesterday and I have to say I was dissapointed, I went to see the film with low expectations and was still let down.
Blade was more of a secondary character, they spent far too much time introducing people who where only going to be in the film for 20minutes, too much time with dramatic slow motion bits wich just draged on too long (As though they didnt have enough material to make the film so they stretched out bits).
I also found the product placement to be a little too shameless and obvious, it was almost painful to watch some of it.

Halcyon 04-01-2005 12:53

Re: Rate the last movie you saw...

Went to see Oceans 12 last week and it is like the last film, full of well known actors including the lovely Catherine Zeta Jones who looks quite nice in this, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, George Clooney, etc.

If you are after a criminal plot that all serious, then this won't be your kind of thing, but if you enjoyed the last one and like a bit of comedy stuck in to it here and there, then you'l like it.

Its a good film.

Resident Evil: Apocolypse

Was alright, one of them films that you see when you can't be arsed to do anything (Actually, thats the case with most films isn't it?). It was more of an action film rather than a horror (Which was the case in the old film, but that was simply bad). Again, it was alright but not groundbreaking. Me says 6/10

lately i have seen:
Collateral
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0369339/
https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2005/01/23.jpg

- great start lost the plot towards the end. Tom makes a good bad guy and jamie foxx (who i had never heard of) was superb, look out for him in the Ray Charles film out soon.

6/10

I also saw:
without a paddle -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0364751/

silly silly silly but some funny parts.

5/10

Also i saw:
Cellular
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0337921/

This film is a bit like phonebooth (same writter i think) but its well done, a random plot but its good fun watching the guy run around :) basically
Quote:

a young man receives an emergency phone call on his cell phone from an older woman. The catch? The woman claims to have been kidnapped; and the kidnappers have targeted her husband and child next.
So he has to run round helping her. The film also has the excellent William H. Macy in it but he dosnt have the biggest role.

7/10

I also saw:
The grudge
https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2005/01/24.jpg
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0391198/

Plot:
Quote:

An American nurse living and working in Tokyo is exposed to a mysterious supernatural curse, one that locks a person in a powerful rage before claiming their life and spreading to another victim.
Now this one had buffy in it and some scarey 6th sence like "jump" moments basically lots of silence then something scarey and a load bit of music :) i didnt really understand what was going on BUT beware small oriental kids who turn into cats... Like "The Ring" it got a US remake:

This is the TV Serie that is the start of Ju-On:
GakkÃÃ*’´ no kaidan G (1998) http://us.imdb.com/Title?0330312

Ju-On (2000) - TV Movie http://us.imdb.com/Title?0330500
Ju-On 2 (2000)- TV Movie http://us.imdb.com/Title?0330501
Ju-On The Grudge (2003)- Movie http://us.imdb.com/Title?0364385
Ju-On The Grudge 2 (2003)- Movie http://us.imdb.com/Title?0367913
The Grudge (2004)- U.S. Remake http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0391198

As always the orginal is far better.

5/10

I also saw:

Jonathan Demme - The Manchurian Candidate (2004)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368008/

Quote:

Jonathan Demme directed this updated remake of John Frankenheimer's 1962 cult favorite The Manchurian Candidate, a pioneering examination of political conspiracy and psychological reconditioning. Major Bennett Marco (Denzel Washington) and Sergeant Raymond Shaw (Liev Schreiber) are two soldiers who served in the same company during Operation Desert Storm, but their paths following their tours of duty have been very different. Shaw, the son of powerful congresswoman Eleanor Shaw (Meryl Streep), has used his reputation as a war hero to quickly scale the ladder of American politics, and witht he help of his mother earns the Vice Presidential nomination. Marco, on the other hand, has been troubled with mental illness, and is convinced that something strange happened to him and his compatriots during the war. As Marco struggles to find the truth behind his nightmares and emotional torment, he unearths some disturbing facts about how his mind and body have been reworked by shadowy forces, as well as those of his fellow soldiers †” including Raymond Shaw. Featuring a stellar supporting cast (including Jon Voight, Miguel Ferrer, Ted Levine, and Dean Stockwell), The Manchurian Candidate credits George Axelrod's screenplay for the 1962 film as its source, as opposed to Richard Condon's 1959 novel from which Axelrod adapted his script. †” Mark Deming
Strange film and i got bored at the end enough said :) 5/10 very well acted .

Really funny!!
Theres a lot of swearing, but its a 15 after all, and some "interesting" scenes!
Sometimes some scenes just get slightly boring, but there isnt many of them, but loads of great parts espcially the start!!

Some great songs aswell! "America, **** Yeah!"

Good to watch, probabbly could rewatch it, only one scene which isnt that funny due to world events, but they made it before it happened so to be expected, overall though i would say 8/10!

Yes the poster is Korean, the movie aint...

Set in Canton, China in the 1940s, the story revolves around a hapless wannabe gangster who
aspires to become a member of the notorious "Axe Gang." Other characters include an obnoxious
landlady and her apparently frail husband who exhibit extraordinary powers in defending their turf.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - as someone mentioned, missing a load of content from the book, didn't bother watching the end. 5/10

saw Charlie's Angel's 2 the other day.. i know it's just meant to be the 3 women looking good but it was a load of rubbish.. asically it was just a copy of all The Matrix slow motion stuff with a few Guy Richie type camera angles \ moves thrown in as well..

all that against a CGI backdrop

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind. Weird, ended up waiting for it to end. 4/10. I'm sure all the cast felt they were in it for oscars (that they did not get), way to artsy.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw...

I watched Underworld for the first time last night, and I must say it was average if not crap.

everything was dark...Oh how typical for a vampire flick.. and I noticed that they tried a wee bit to copy thte matrix, with slow mo, jumps and the way she would walk off when she jumped from a great height , she put me in mind of Trinity.....

She was lovely though, stupid story line, with the war started by a vampire elder, only to finish with a vampire killing her elder..... she must have went off at the end for inter species sex after it.....

Enough alread with the matrix copying, the matrix done it, and done it well in the first film, ok in the second film, and badly in the third film.....

I would watch this agin, but I would not buy it.

6/10 for film
10/10 for Kate

What's it about? "The sequel to the $100 million worldwide hit, Underworld: Evolution continues the saga of war between the aristocratic Death Dealers and the barbaric Lycans (werewolves). The film traces the beginnings of the ancient feud between the two tribes as Selene (Kate Beckinsale), the beautiful vampire heroine, and Michael (Scott Speedman), the lycan hybrid, try to unlock the secrets of their bloodlines. The fast-paced, modern-day tale of deadly action, ruthless intrigue and forbidden love takes them into the battle to end all wars as the immortals must finally face their retribution

Re: Rate the last movie you saw...

We got a couple from the rental shop last night:

Catwoman ('cos Mrs Nug wanted to see it) - in all fairness, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. On the other hand, I thought it was going to be the worst film I'd ever seen, but The Cell still holds that title (just). I'll give it 2 / 10 (it gets an extra point for having the audacity to leave itself open for a sequel).

The other one was Walking Tall (The Rock / Johnny Knoxville) - alright if you want to watch The Rock being The Rock. However, it was also one of the shortest films ever (in fact, at 71 minutes, it only just qualified as a film and not a short), so it can have 7/10 for the action bits, but 4/10 for the running time.

Watched The Aviator at the weekend and no doubt it's going to win several oscars but I can't see why. It was just boring, after 40 minutes I had given up with it and fast forwarded the last 30 minutes just to get it over with :erm: The problem with it, is it's over-rated and it just does not capture your attention. Long films need to get you immersed in them to keep you watching, like Shawshank Redemption & Saving Private Ryan. The Aviator just drags on

I'm sure scorsese will win best director and best film, only because it's 'his' year rather than the film being any good

Also, seen the first half of Million Dollar Baby and despite the adverts raving about it, it too is rather lame and nothing special.

Just watched Meet The Fockers. Just as good as the first one (Meet The Parents, for those who don't know). 8/10 :)

The Siege

Very good action/thriller, starring Denzel Washington, Bruce Willis, & Annette Benning.

Saw too 'comedies' recently:

Meet The Fockers - It was okay, I wasn't impressed by Meet The Parents and I thought this one was slightly more enjoyable. It's not a rip roaring comedy but did have some funny moments in it. I think Dustin Hoffman stole the show. 6/10

Sideways - The advert on tv says the GQ magazine says 'Sideways is the funniest film of the year' I think they cut out the entire quote as it should have read 'If I said Sideways is the funniest film of the year then I would be lying'. Comedy what comedy  I think I chuckled once :erm: and after about an hour the film just drags on and you want it to end as quickly as possible. 2/10 :td:

The Passion of the Christ.....

Boring and brutal. and one point really made me think..... what the hell is that all about, the bit where jesus falls over the wall in chains and a monster/demon runs away, why put that in?

Never saw that. Looks like I might not bother with it after all.
Seems to have been a lot of hype for it but not much else then.

It was meant to emphasise Judas' guilt over what he'd done.

so the demon sprints away, this type of metaphorical crap is not needed in films, this for me killed a sort of ok film (as in ok I mean ok cinematic experience for the graphics but not film as in story)

I must admit, I am catholic, so I wanted to see this, and to be honest I thought it was a bit over done, it was quick, it was brutal, the demon things is just not necessary in my opinion.

I was led to believe it was about jesus' live not just his time of execution.

How was it supposed to emphasise that? I didn't really get it.

I take it that the demon was judas, and he saw how jesus being treated and was upset that he could no longer watch his leader/saviour take the punishment so he ran away ??????

he killed himself because of his guilt, why bring a demon into it?

When Jesus falls over a bridge, it's the bridge Judas is hiding beneath, it's where he goes to try and hide from the guilt of what he's done. So just to rub it in, he ends up eye-to-eye with Jesus who has just been thrown over the bridge. As if that wasn't bad enough, he then gets a vision of a demon to symbolise his guilt haunting him.

There are quite a few scenes in the film which don't appear in the Bible, such as Satan appearing in the Garden of Gesthemane (at the start when Jesus is praying/panicing, Satan is the bald person in the hood), and the blackbird pecking the thief's eyes out amongst other things. And before someone bleats on about it not being in "my" bible, you won't find these scenes in any bible. Gibson ackowledges he used artistic license in these scenes.

Dog Soldiers

Very good British action/horror, about a group of soldiers on excercise in the Scottish highlands, but things take an unexpected turn for the worst during a full moon...

Well worth watching :tu:

The Bourne Supremacy

Sequel to the Bourne Identity. Don't think it's something I'd be fussed about watching again, but it was quite enjoyable.

Nowt wrong with alien 3, true its not as good as the others but I thought it was good enough.
Resurection on the other hand, now that was an abomination.

EDIT:
And recently I went to see meet the Fockers, very funny from start to finish though I liked the first one best.

It's not too bad in & of itself, but compared to 1 & 2 it's pretty poor. Also v annoying the way it killed off Hicks, plus then Ripley at the end.

Resurrection....definitely an abomination.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw...

Well, I have seen four movies this weekend (one at the cinema, three on DVD).

Ocean's 12 (cinema)

OK movie, not quite as good as Ocean's 11 though. Ocean's 11 had a certain charm (as did the original), it had likeable characters and good acting. Not to mention that it was interesting watching how they did the robbery.

Ocean's 12 is perfectly watchable, but it looks like they have tried to work out what made the original successful, but totally c*cked it up. It seems like they are following a formula.

Anchorman

Brilliant. Will Ferrell has been excellent in all the films I have seen him in, and this one is no exception.

Christina Applegate (Kelly in Married with Children, and Buffy the Vampire slayer in the movie on which the series was based) is looking very hot in this movie, and is a good actress as well.

It being a film written by Will Ferrell, he gets most of the good lines, but Christina more than holds her own. Ben Stiller has a bit part in this movie and is also very good.

Dodgeball

Well, as with Ocean's 12, I quite like it, but it's not up to the standard of Ben Stiller's previous films. Still you do get to see Christine Taylor (Marcia Brady in "The Brady Bunch Movie") wearing a tight leather dress..

Resident Evil: Apocalypse

I, err, went shopping while drunk on Wednesday (my local 24 hour Tescos is handy sometimes). I bought this, three pairs of socks, a bottle of coke and a packet of razor blades. I have no idea why (apart from the razor blades, I did need those).

Still, I wasn't expecting to enjoy this (While sober, I had no intention of buying it). I did quite enjoy it, it doesn't have good acting, or much of a storyline.

It does have good stunts, good Special FX and Milla Jojovich always looks nice.

Good film. Would rather have rented it though, as I don't think I'll be in any hurry to watch it again.

The Village - an appalling load of rubbish, poorly acted and an unconvincing and weak storyline . The highlights could have been compressed into 2 minutes. Fell asleep watching it!!

I watched anchorman after your shining review but I wasnt all that impressed, the end was good and there where lots of funny bits but they all seemed to happen at once leaving long periods of boredom. 7/10 becuase the funny bits where really funny wich made up for the other bits.
