l would suggest with some of these clubs that proper due diligence might have resulted in less of these fly-by-night merchants getting ownership of these clubs.

Maybe they're hoping to recoup quite a few ££ through the revenue his name will generate . . . not that I understand how all this advertising guff works. :D

Oh, they will absolutely turn profit from Ronaldo. The guy will be insanely marketable even after retirement. He's just one of those players, similar to the Beckham brand etc.

Re: Season 2018/2019

Peter Lim owns most of his image rights so most of the money from marketing him directly will go to him but everything from shirt sponsors to the 'Juventus in partnership with' napkins, noodles etc will now have more companies vying for their name to be in the mix resulting in higher fees. Viewership of the league overall will likely increase significantly too so when it comes time to renegotiating TV deals the whole of Serie A will benefit.

Losing him is a pretty big blow to La Liga, Messi and Ronaldo are the main reasons people around the globe were tuning in.

Re: Season 2018/2019

If Newcastle go into the season without significant investment I'd call it a certainty that Benitez will leave at the end of his contract next year. Not only would that be disastrous. It'd again be a certainty that we'll see an Ashley backlash far significant than that of Kevin Keegans departure. Two seasons of promises and half a window to go to make it 2 out of 2 for promises not being delivered.

Is there an end in sight to be rid of this lunatic.
