Photo of the day

A place for members to share pictures they've taken. It doesn't really matter what it is, as long as it's a picture you've taken yourself.

http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/8312/dscf0208t.jpg

Captured this earlier. A police car hit another vehicle. Lucky nobody was injured. About 5 minutes after this snap there was around 100 people on the scene.

Upon review, is that a Virgin cable box in the left of the snap?

We called round to see Jr tonight (well to see her new kittens) and here's a photo Mrs G took of the one that's now my new best mate. She settled down between my leg and the arm of the sofa. Ar 8 weeks they're a bit young to have been taken from their mother, but they're so cute.

Brilliant! It's photos like these that tell a story, or at least makes you think there might be a story.

Here I see a tree in the middle of a park or field that stands alone. It looks fairly old old, and maybe dead seeing there are no leaves. Is there any folk stories attached to the tree such as witches being hanged or a meeting point for an old historical event etc...?

Not trying to get too deep or anything but I do enjoy a good picture :D

@ Chad & Tinky. I have a tiny patio area that is squeezed in at the back of our sitting room. It is a sun trap and the site of many a happy afternoons drinking vimto with friends and family. It also gets good WiFi coverage so I often sit out there in the sun sketching or catching up on my forums.

Tinky, I notice you still have your aviary. Does it have any occupants again?

I quite like the idea of this thread. It's interesting seeing things though other members eyes without the element of a competition. It can be quite intimidating to some people when you see the entries submitted by some of our members who have such a talent for photography.

This may be a bit of a cheat as the pictures were taken 3 weeks ago, but I've been playing with the 64bit version of Microsoft Image Composite Editor and was surprised how good the resulting panorama was from this free simple to use software using 6 photos taken at Carisbrooke Castle, I.O.W.

I know what you mean about being able to post our snaps without the element of competition Jo, I did get the feeling at times that the entries were too good to be entirely from amateurs.

Alas out aviary is now empty Jo, our last budgie died fairly recently (indoors) at age 13. We do not intend to get/have any more pets, they are very tying and besides we get too emotional when they pass away.:(

Thanks Tinky, I was really surprised how effective and easy to use the Microsoft ICE software was, not what I expect from M$'s free offerings! :)

I had used the earlier 32bit version a couple of years ago, but that was nowhere near as good.

Afraid there is nothing like that, but I can see where you are coming from :D The small park was owned by a Prime Minister and later he donated it to the local council.

It was the pattern of branches in the shadow on the ground which looked cool and made me take the picture but I didn't manage to capture that too well.

This has gave me an idea for this thread. It's a guess where I am game. You submit a picture without any real recognisable landmarks and people need to work our where you are via some Google enquiries. There does need to be something in the picture that people can use to start their investigation. Think of it as a good form of stalking :D

I picked one of those up to-day at Lidl. £1.62 for 1kg. Got it home and it contained perfect slices of smoked bacon. A tad on the thicker side than normal but we had a few slices for our evening meal with some cauliflower cheese and it was lovely.

We had some fantastic sunsets last October and I couldn't resist taking a couple of photos. :)

Yes, when we had our road trip from Detroit to Key West and back.

This blackbird singing in my neighbour's apple tree has got to be the noisiest one I've ever heard, amazing how much sound he can generate!

Just took the dog out into the garden for him to make himself comfortable before bed, and in the water bowl we keep outside for him there was a frog and a snail so I just had to have a photo of it taken with the only the light from my outside light.

I don't claim to be a good photographer by any means, here are some photo's i took at the Rotunda of Mosta today on my Samsung S3.

A very very beautiful building

If the pictures dont show up its because i am on a slow wifi connection here that is being hammered.

A truly remarkable story of how the bomb came through the dome whilst a service was being conducted, and despite the odds no one was injured. My photo of the repaired dome.

Indeed, thankfully no one was killed and a beautiful building still stands to this day.

Blimey the quality from phones these days.

Excellent photos. Must be a pain to print though.
