Contract Confusion

Hi Everyone,

This isn't a billing issue as such although I didn't feel that this was more appropriate anywhere else but if mods feel so then please feel free to move.

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on my situation.

The service I currently have is 50mb broadband without phone.

I received a price increase letter like everyone else stating that my service was going up by £1.99 so I thought that this would give me the oppotunity to get tied into another 12 month contract as I believed my current deal would finish on the 01/12/17.

My monthly bill is £18.25.

I decided to play the game with retentions and got a call back from an agent stating that they could only give me a deal which would cost £22 per month and stated that my current loyalty discount was going to finish next month anyway but when I argued that it should finish at the start of December he said that his computer was stating that it was next month and that I was wrong.

I have dug out a virgin media receipt email and it shows the following...

Your Updated Package ...
Bundle charges
SuperFibre 50
Bundle charges total £32.25

Promotional offer(s)
Welcome offer 12 month discount
Loyalty Discount £7 per month for 18 months
Promotional offer(s) total £16.48CR

Telephone Line Rental
Phone line rental total £0.00

New monthly package total* £15.77

One-off charges & credits
Loyalty Credit £7.00CR

One-off charges & credits total £7.00CR

*Prices correct as at today's date.

Am I being fobbed off by the agent and that I actually have another 6 months (making it a total of 18 months for the contract) from December?

If so is there a cooling off period with contract alterations and extensions over the phone so I can cancel the current new deal that I have agreed to?

Thanks in advance. :)

Sounds like it. They are probably talking bollocks to try to force you to take their deal. You should have a record of what you signed up to surely?
