LOL i aint had any news about it first I heard was when i mistyped Blue Yonder 1.5mb for NTL 1.5mb ( blonde moment) and found information thanks to some friends MAGENTA.SUNSET ( lycos chat name ) who may be on here somewhere, i found this site.
NO information though about it but im more then suited with my 1.5mb :D ( Rochdale is done but I think mines only one actually working right now ) :p: :p: runs like fook. |

As I said in a prev post, the dates are there as a guide only all upgrades should be completed BY the date ie it could be tomorrow, it could be Nov 1st.... Well done to people for recognising that ntl are trying to improve the service ! |

well I am glad to be upgraded and yes for free especially when the checker told me october so I dont moan all the time :)
|
Re: [Merged] BB Speed Upgrades
I still refuse to believe that the cost of the work done to upgrade the speed across all NTL BB tiers is free...
If NTL were so generous why dont they give a pay rise to all their empolyees. At sometime NTL will want to recover the costs... As for the cost time will tell. |
Re: [Merged] BB Speed Upgrades
Reported a fault that required a technician today, guy came out within 1 hour and 40 mins, and fitted me a new Silver Samsung box for my soon to be 1.5Mb connection.
The guy was really nice, and was telling me how he had been working for NTL for 8 years, and proceeded to tell me stories about "how **** them lot up there are" reffering to the people who give them jobs to goto! He also claimed he only knew of the upgrade 3 days ago, by an email, and said that if NTL had not upgraded these boxes, there would be "absolute hell" because they were not upto the job. Now my only problem is tuning my volume control into the new Remote, seems fiddly and won't accept my three digit code! R.E The upgrade, he said that "he wouldn't be suprised if we were still at it by Christmas, there is that much work to do on the boxes" Great guy, great response. |

Broadband Upgrade - Such excitement
Imagine my excitement when I get my bill from NTL stating that my 600k BB is going to be come 750k some time during August (check ntlworld.co.uk it says, for more details). So I rush to my PC and before I get chance to check the website, I have an email from NTL - 600K BB to 750k during August.
I can contain my excitement no longer, so rush to the website as fast as my fingers will allow me to type. The suspense is mounting as I'm prompted for my Post Code so they can tell me exactly when this is going to be. I enter my Post Code, click the button, and....... Your service is due to be upgraded during the month of August Talk about "anti-climax"!         |

Right, Im confused, Mine hasnt been upgraded, (Boo) but, to be confusing, My postcode Comes up with September, a frined in Biggleswade gets August for his, which is it? we are on the SAME ubr as far as I know, Its all well and good when an upgrade occurs, But when the only method Of finding out when an upgrade is Gives conflicting results it gets slightly flustrating.
Does ANYONE live in the biggleswade area? if so has your speed gone up? NB : Im not bashing NTL per se, but the PR seems to be totally bodged (ala the postcode chcker), I now feel in the dark, and throughly confused, as a customer I shouldnt have to feel like this, bah. |

Hi, I was a member of the old forum, but it seems to have lost my old registration details.. anyways.. My STB rebooted early hours this morning and it seems like ive been upgraded from the 150 service, but the speeds are like a yo-yo. I've no viruses ect (experienced user) I'm in the Burnley area and I've manualy rebooted the box but this hasent helped any. The d/l speeds from ftp start around 36k then fall back to around 21k/s, I was wondering if anybody else has noticed this and should I wait a little longer before I call faults. Cheers..

Re: [Merged] BB Speed Upgrades
I've looked through the thread and it seems like the Luton area was among the first to be upgraded. Does this include Hitchin (problems in Luton always seem to)? I've rebooted my modem with no success, but the log does have an odd report of an update not being applied because it is "not for this unit" or somesuch. It's a Motorola SurfBoard, which I know NTL stopped giving to people a long time ago now, so I'm curious if the area has been upgraded but my CM isn't being catered for.
Doesn't seem likely as the config file gets grabbed okay, so the update must be something else entirely, but I don't know much about these things. Ta for any info, |
Re: [Merged] BB Speed Upgrades
Upgraded to 1.5Mbps here :tu:
Woking. Motorolla Surfboard 4100. Needed a modem reboot. I think all the standalone modems are supported as they are capable of going to much higher speeds (some go up to 30Mbps!). It's only some Set Top Boxes that are unsupported (due to problems going above 1Mbps) and thus need replacing. |
Re: [Merged] BB Speed Upgrades
Does anyone know if the Luton area has been upgraded yet. I have been checking everyday and nothing as yet.
