Re: [Merged] BB Speed Upgrades
No and i've also switched off my firewall for the online test.
|
Re: [Merged] BB Speed Upgrades
Quite. So to reiterate what I said - South Manchester and parts of Herts/Beds were tested last week to see if our procedures worked, we got together and discussed how things went. Hence no upgrades since then.
It's all a lot simpler than some people are making out. Taking rumours as facts and what people guess goes on at ntl is a good recipe for getting in a muddle. |
Re: [Merged] BB Speed Upgrades
Quite. I'm expecting my BB supplier to supply me with what i'm paying for, not to slow me down while they 'upgrade'.

Hang on....if i download a test file using mIRC its running at about 18KB/sec...Thats about right isn't it...?
|
Re: [Merged] BB Speed Upgrades
Well you wouldnt get that speed with the results you got from the test, I think thats normal speed for 150k
|
Re: [Merged] BB Speed Upgrades
Yeah thats what i though, 150k / 8 = 18.75. Looks about right....i'll run that test again later i think.!

Re: [Merged] BB Speed Upgrades
Like BBKing has said numerous times, the extra "t" stands for temp, and is being used until the speed upgrades happen....
|
Re: [Merged] BB Speed Upgrades
I would imagine that all current configuration files have been renamed to have a "t" for temporary at the beginning of the filename. When you are upgraded the new filename will be the same as it used to be and replace the temporary filename.

Successful overnight upgrade here in Norwich to 750. The process seems to have been a technical success (well done techies), but oh what a failure in customer communication. St Neots, Cambs. Everything working fine here. To see if you have been upgraded, check the Cable Modem itself. To do this: http://192.168.100.1 User: root , Pass: root Click "Operation Configuration" in the box you'll see some settings, if you were on NTL's 1MB (like me) and you think you've been upgraded you should see this: Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 1536000 bps Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 256000 bps :D (oops, I said STB and I ment Modem, sorry for any confussion.) And to whoever posted the postcode tracker link thing, i get: When is the speed upgrade happening in my area? Your service is due to be upgraded during the month of October. It doesn't appear to be very accurate! :/ |
