That's Media's Manchester Multiplex on Freeview may close by Mid May.

Look like the owners of Manchester Multiplex have forgot to pay a bill.

For one new SD Channel to launch using Bauer Radio's slot on Freeview would need to cut the Mb/s from Talking Pictures and DMAX.

Freeview News UPDATE:

That's Media's Manchester Multiplex on Freeview WILL NOT close by Mid May as Compulsory strike-off action was discontinued on April 2nd.

RUMOUR: Talk TV may close next week.

TV Zone is reporting that Talk TV will move out of its TV studios for its daytime programming on Friday 26th April, and the channel is expected to cease as a linear channel on Tuesday 30th April.

While it's true the audience figures for linear are quite low & may be an excuse for closing that output, there is also the possibility of less scrutiny from OFCOM over their content. Perhaps they see it as an opportunity of competing with another more controversial news channel that keeps getting it's wrists slapped by the regulator.

Or not as it will, largely, be a live feed of the radio content, which will continue to be subject to Ofcom rules.

I believe that there are plans to require internet channels to be licenced by and regulated by Ofcom.

A few other service renames also, such as TalkLeeds reverting to Leeds TV and other similar changes across the local channels. Which might answer what you were getting at in your question about these channels on the Virgin TV thread.
