Router is installed upstairs. how can i get devices downstairs?

i am currently having an extension (lounge) and i hope to have all my devices set up there e.g sky box, virgin box, router, nas device, sonos speakers, games consoles etc

problem i have is virgin want £99 kwid to move the equipment
what other options do i have? that will be cheaper..

can i extend the current cable? from outside the house? or will i have to do it from the terminal box in the current room where its set?

other ethernet devices

what options do i have? do i need a homeplug and a ethernet switch?
(in lounge) and will this get me good speeds? any idea of what switch i need, ive seen some eternet switches for around £10 would this work

thanks

You can run a cable (Cat6 or 7 to give a bit of future proofing), but this can be messy.

You can drill a hole through floor, but again the right place is needed.

A tidier option will be home plugs, but I'm not sure if certian electrical setups will cause issues.

I run a cat 6 cable from my router to a D-link 7 port hub which I connect my kit to.
