For the first time ever...

...I find myself liking a mobile phone!
To explain: I lost my last one, a very basic smartphone which didn't deserve the name, and I was reluctant to replace it because I hate the damn things. Unfortunately they're a necessary evil these days. So I got a Nokia TA-1205, keeping the same number. I'll have to phone Northern Rail's Lost Property at some point, if only so I can retrieve my contacts list.

I've received a few of the usual scam calls; on the last phone I had 220 blocked contacts (Who Called Me is a bloody useful site!). But this phone actually tells me if the caller is a suspected spammer/scammer, so I don't need to save it as a blocked contact - all I have to do is block it! Result!

Are your contacts not stored on your Google account, if not why not as it makes life easier?

Don't forget to change password.

Hmm, that's a thought. Nice one, I will.

In fact my phone has been found and is perfectly safe (in the safe! :p:) at Man Vic; I'll fetch it tomorrow. Seems they checked its contacts list, discovered a Bolton number - my sister's - and contacted her, after which she contacted me. I gathered whilst setting up the new phone that info can be transferred between phones via Bluetooth, so I'll do that.

how did they manage to go through your contacts list? you got an easy passcode or a really common fingerprint / face?

Or no security on the phone at all? :(

Um, no, it wasn't secured...because I never expected to lose it. I have secured the new one. I learn from my mistakes.

no one expects to lose their phone / have it stolen. that's the very reason why you secure it!
