COM 8 being wasted on part time channels

I noticed Freeview HD launched QVC+1 HD & QVC Beauty on the COM 8 why Freeview has decided to timeshare them both on a new multiplex is beyond me.All these pointless sleezy adult channels & daft timesharing Travel channel could be a 24/7 channel instead of pointless QVC+ 1 HD & boring QVC Beauty.

Well, to be fair Freeview wouldn't have decided that, QVC did.

The space may be available, but it isn't free and QVC must have thought buying 2 full channels would've been too expensive so launched these two as a timeshare.

For your other point, I agree but it is up to the broadcasters to launch channels on Freeview. The platform is good nowadays, so it justs the support of them really.

Apparently there isn't a 24/7 channel out there that thinks it could generate enough interest to generate the income required to pay for the slot. Freeview may be free to view but it isn't free to use from a broadcaster's point of view. Apparently there is more money to be made from diamanté necklaces and twerking tarts. C'est la vie.

Also something to consider is that COM 8 isn't fully switched on yet. Sandy Heath only came online in the last couple of weeks and a few of the bigger transmitters don't have it yet, so there's little point to launch a major channel on COM 8 until the rollout is complete.

QVC are just getting in early really.
