Music Choice
I seem to recall many years ago that there was a paid-for audio service called Music Choice that was available on cable during the late 1990s. Did anyone subscribe to it?
I also seem to recall it didn't appear on digital cable services and instead launched on Sky Digital when it first launched, but it later disappeared. |
Re: Music Choice
Another thread!
Is there really any need? There has been hundreds of channels come and go through the years, is there really any need for a new thread for each one? This particular service as you well note was not on cable so why bring it up on a cable forum |

It's almost as though he's doing research for the book he's going to write ;)

Re: Music Choice
I had a Music Choice Europe subscription on my Sky box. You got 10 free and another 30 or so for a subscription.

Re: Music Choice
There were two different packages around about the same time. MCE was on Sky but I can't remember the name of the alternate service which was NOT on Sky. Maybe Xtra Music.

Re: Music Choice
DMX Europe seems to have been the other audio only package.

Re: Music Choice
I remember the Sky version, there were two channels. Regular Music Choice on 480 that was part of the family package, and Music Choice Extra on 481 which was a separate premium addon. Both were links to the interactive service which is where you could select each specific themed channel that Music Choice offered. Before that they were individual channels on the Sky EPG.

Re: Music Choice
I'm sure it was only ever on satellite - although was not limited to the UK.

Re: Music Choice
I don't recall it being on analogue cable either. It's model would not really work on analogue cable.
It turns out my memory was right. DMX Europe was the rival and it was later renamed Xtra Music before being taken over by MCE. Quote:

I was first introduced to MC on analogue cable!!
The box had a selection to hear music and if you stiched it,you could choose all the channels MC has.... |
