The problem is that I want to be able to add items that I already have. Eg Hard Disk drives for non-system storage. Worried that might invalidate any warranty, although effectively if I build it myself, there isn't much of one anyway.
Also been waiting to see if Intel will have PCI 4. Looks like it may take another year for that.
The constant dilemma of how long should I wait for new features to appear and lower prices. Every six months a new set of features is added to something.

Buy a pre built and tested motherboard cpu ram and cooler bundle from someone like Scan or CCL they both give 3 year warranty with these bundles so you can then throw them in a case with anything you want and have warranty on the expensive stuff ( not including GFX of course)

Looks like I'm going to have to buy a pre-built one, rather than build one from components I select myself.

Similar to me, but looking at (ever rising) component prices has pushed me onto console gaming at 10% of the price.
How long before PC gaming upgrades are the realm of the rich and the Youtuber?

The ZX Spectrum was good enough for Jet Set Willy and Chuckle Egg. What else do you need ? ;)

By the looks of it we are gonna have to keep ahold of our GTX 1080 for a while longer.

I know this seems a little off topic but can i ask a simple question about my current card.

Its an Inno3D 1080 here the link to the card on the manufacturers website....
https://www.inno3d.com/products_detail.php?refid=259

Why does every piece of software such as SISandra, AIDA64 Extreme and Belarc Advisor say its a founders edition card?

Thanks
Georgie.

Per Nvidia:

Quote:

Built around a radial fan with an advanced vapor chamber (our first on a graphics card with a TDP less than 250 Watts), the GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition pushes all heated air outside the chassis via a rear exhaust, keeping the rest of your components and the inside of your case cool

Everything but the heat sink and 2 fans will be the same. They should really have changed the ID in the GPU though (or wherever it is kept).

Re: Finding a New Graphics card help.

Maybe all the software are reading components on a base chassis for the foundation, your 1080 has the base chassis but not the 'extras' for a foundation?

edit: didn't see Pips reply ;)
