HDMI to DVI converter

Has any had any experience with a HDMI to DVI converter?

DVI on the monitor HDMI on the graphics card.

I know DVI doesnt carry sound which can be problematic

I've used a cable adapter in the past but the inputs on my latest monitor are nearer the base of the case so there's barely enough space to slot the HDMI cable into the adapter.

For a couple of quid extra, I bought this boxy-looking thing (available from several online retailers but this was the cheapest when I looked) which doesn't need the extra vertical clearance so fits much better.
