BBC programme shift

Yet again the BBC move programmes from BBC 1 to BBC 2 taking off their programmes . Can not see why they just don't put the show on bbc2 At least then one of the two would be untouched

Re: BBC programme shift

As an example , commonwealth games on bbc1 pointless moved to bbc 2 disrupting two channels , however if you look at what is happening due this event I am sure you will find more

Sporting events have caused programmes to shift between BBC1 and 2 pretty much since BBC2 has existed. Seems a bit pointless to be complaining about it now.

I think Itshim has a point, though. One of the programmes my wife likes didn’t record on Sunday due to a channel change.

I have no idea why the BBC does this. There must be a better way of organising the schedules on each channel.

Wouldn’t it be better, for example, to put the Commonwealth Games on the red button instead of completely disrupting the normal schedules?

It wouldn’t, because doing so wouldn’t meet their public service obligation to adequately reflect national interests and cover major events in the life of the nation. It’s not an accident that showpiece events go on BBC1 and stuff that would otherwise be important enough for 1 get bumped to 2. There is a pecking order, and the channels’ names aren’t a coincidence.

Well, it’s ridiculous. Who cares which channel it’s on?

The sooner it’s all streamed, the better in my view, we can just choose from the selection of content then.

1 was added when BBC2 opened strangely enough.

Yep, in 1964.

It changed from '1' to 'One' in 1997.

I get annoyed when adverts are interrupted by the programme.
