Virgin Media having more issues UK wide with TV and Internet

Quote:

Virgin Media customers across the country have complained of a complete lack of broadband after the entire network appeared to suffer an outage.

Thousands of customers complained they had no internet access today.

A statement from the firm was not immediately available but online tool Down Detector said there had been a large surge in reports of outages across the entire country of people struggling to use their TV and internet connections.

Yep, I noticed my router switched me to my backup vodaphone connection about an hour ago.

Looking at my monitors, it seems my VM connection was offline from 17:18 to 17:28.

Woah ... its gone again just seconds ago

What a bizarre pattern, it was down 18:18 to 18:28.

Same outage times as me. Although speaking to some other people on other ISPs they had an issue an hour ago as well - May or may not be connected.

Had a BB outage a few moments ago. Seems to be back now. TV unaffected.

A small inconvenience in the great scheme of things Richard.

Hi, we're currently experiencing a national technical issue which may be impacting both your cable and mobile services and we're sorry for the inconvenience caused. However we're aware of it and we're working on a fix. Thank you for your patience. ^LCH

Get a backup connection then, if working from home is important to you.

How much is a backup connection (or do you only pay when it has to kick in)? I might look into this.

I was logged into work when it went down the first time, I switched over to my phone and carried on working through the second drop. My cable connection seems stable at the moment.

Same timings here. Just as well I got a Huawei B535 delivered today I’m dropping off to an elderly, self isolating relative with no broadband. I can drop it off tomorrow instead. :)

Just get a pay as you go wifi box and it's there if needed. Also make sure it is not with the same company you have your broadband with in case its a national outage that affects there mobile as well. So if your main connection is with VM then have a wifibox from say Cellnet or H3G

Yes, you have to pay for it, just like any BB connection, I have a Vodaphone connection as its quite important to me to stay connected.

As noted above, you can also get dongles that you plug into some routers to give you 3G/4G connectivity (again, you have to pay).

I prefer my backup to be a solid landline connection.
