I've never heard of any of the series on this thread !
When's 'George and Mildred' going to be renewed? That's what I want to know.

Very funny. :dozey:
It does appear that Brian Murphy is still alive (and 90 years old now).
Yootha Joyce died in 1980 causing a planned 6th season to be cancelled.

You sound like a bit of a fan !
Brian is at a Talking Pictures convention next month if you're interested . I know Old Boy will be signed up for it ;)

I would not say "Fan" but I (and my family) did watch them at the time (Man about the House, Robins Nest & George & Mildred).

Fawlty Towers , possibly renewed after more than 40 years....

John Cleese, 83, is in talks to write and star in a new run of the British series, according to industry insiders, and is set to appear alongside his daughter Camilla

It was brilliant, but his ex wives must be screwing him really bad for cash . Anything he's done in the last 20 years has been for money/poor. Let it lie Basil.....

Very low hopes for this but I hope I am wrong.

I think Fawlty Towers didn't end when it should have, they really could have had a few more episodes, but this is far too long to leave it. Shows that come back rarely match their originals, the spark and heart behind them rarely come back. The best you can do is reinvent an IP but that's not what this is.

I never really found it funny TBH, and these days I expect it would be neutered so badly, to suit the woke brigade, it would be a complete waste of time.

Fawlty Towers wasn't really 'anti-work' though. Major was a racist but the joke was on him for that, The German thing was mocking Basil as well. The Irish builder stuff probably would have to go through.

It other words it was prejudice itself being mocked often times rather than the subjects of it being mocked. The problem was always with Fawlty himself.
