Sir Lindsay Hoyle Elected House of Commons Speaker
BREAKING: Labour’s Sir Lindsay Hoyle Elected as New House of Commons Speaker.
https://news.sky.com/story/sir-linds...mmons-11854298 Great choice. |
Re: Sir Lindsay Hoyle Elected House of Commons Speaker
Yes, I have confidence in his ability to be properly impartial, suitably circumspect and to attract the good opinion of all sides of the House. Thoroughly unlike the odious, partisan, pompous little ar5e he has been deputising for these last few years.

He looks a nice man.

Re: Sir Lindsay Hoyle Elected House of Commons Speaker
Hoyle confirms on BBC Radio 4, as Speaker, he will wear the WIG, something the last two predecessors refused to wear and re-establish the ban on clapping in the Commons.

Popular choice amongst MPs. He seems to be a colourful character: He has a parrot called Boris, a rottweiler named Gordon after Gordon Brown, a tortoise called maggie and a terrier called Betty after former speaker Betty Bothroyd.:D

He will be a breath of fresh air for Parliament and hopefully, restore its collective dignity.
The wig should intimidate those he chastises! |
Re: Sir Lindsay Hoyle Elected House of Commons Speaker
Actually I think it will have the opposite effect.

Re: Sir Lindsay Hoyle Elected House of Commons Speaker
Give it a few weeks, he'll be public enemy no.1 again if he refuses to kowtow to the Brexit evangelists....
As for the wig, that's just silly. Politicians are very keen for the rest of the public sector to modernise, but when it comes to themselves, oh no ! |
Re: Sir Lindsay Hoyle Elected House of Commons Speaker
Why should we care about whether or not he wears a wig? Modernising has nothing to do with calling “Order” etc. A silly distraction .

Re: Sir Lindsay Hoyle Elected House of Commons Speaker
In this day and age, he could wear a dress, lacy bra and pink thigh boots and you'd not be able to comment and giggle ;)
