Virgin Media has moved Jetix back into TV Size:L

Media Boy UK 01-03-2007 12:57

Re: Virgin Media Changelog

Discovery Kids is now closed on Virgin Media channel 721.

I have found the following over on Digital Spy for Ex-NTL Viewers:

Sky One, Sky Two, Sky News, Sky Sports News, Sky Travel and Sky Travel Extra have all been removed from the platform.

With the exception of Sky One, placeholders now appear in the positions of the removed channels informing customers of their removal.

On channel 120, Sky One's old position, there is now a channel called Virgin Central 2. It just links into the same content as Virgin Central.

BBC News has moved to channel 601. A placeholder appears on ch 610 informing customers of the move. ( Still on Ch. 610 for Ex-Telewest viewers. )

Ch 221 Discovery Wings has been renamed Discovery Turbo.

Ch 228 Adventure One has been renamed Nat Geo Wild. [Ch. 231 for ex-Telewest viewers.]

Brilliant... so we lost all the sky channels and got Paramount and Discovery for a few months- now they take it away again (I'm on the basic NTL package). I wouldnt mind but frankly these virgin on demand channels are crap- they take half an hour to get started as the system is so slow- and quite often they crap out half way through the tiny selection of programs anyway.

How am I to live without my dose of Cartman?

Good. That's just happened on this part of the network. Here in York we were still seeing the "Service is no longer available" screen on 409, and no channel 410 at all. And that's after a reboot on VIP pack.

Updated: Scrap that last bit - the two channels have just turned up now five minutes after the reboot, but the EPG is showing no information.

I can see that Telewest needs them channels, but ntl: dont need them, They are crap!

I think Virgin Radio will appear, but the rest can be removed from both platforms as far as I am concerned.

5 months after the rebrand from Telewest to VM and we still don't have the missing music channels Classic FM TV or Bliss, Scuzz & Flaunt.

VM were quick to remove Performance from the EPG after just over week after pulling the plug on the channel but i notice that Discovery Kids which ceased broadcasting way back in March is still listed on the EPG.

Virgin are only signing new deals for channels when the old deals that NTL and Telewest have sign have ended.

Is it off the EPG I keep getting this channel has ceased broadcasting as I go through the music channels a la Sky Sports etc.

Would be better if dead channels are taken out of cycles to speed up searches

Damn! :( I realise it may sound strange of me to be disappointed by blank channels being removed, but I actually found a use for 1. I don't watch anything live, & I find having that preview/picture-in-picture thing on screen annoying when I'm browsing around the various menus, so I've been leaving my box set to 1 of the blank channels [I was using 602]. I don't suppose anyone knows if there are any blank channels left?

Try ch501 which was prem plus or ch 890 if your ex-telewest and i think Ch 0 is also blank

Yea. Prem Plus is still there, but you could use channel 0 as well, which is the PPV channel.

The Sky Travel ones have been removed also.

Makes me wonder if there trying to free up a bit of space on the network for the extra setanta sports channels, thats just a guess. :erm:

I'm ex-NTL. 501 doesn't work, it just says that I'm not subscribed to that channel. 0 is blank, as is 610 [Ex BBC News 24], but having gone all the way round, those are the only 2.
