Some TalkSport AM transmitters to close
If you listen to TalkSport Radio in your car using old fashioned AM or Medium Wave, you may find you are losing reception shortly.
OFCOM have given the radio station permission to close 7 of its AM transmitters in outlying areas of the UK. The station will remain available nationwide on DAB Digital Radio: https://radiotoday.co.uk/2020/01/tal...-transmitters/ |

Re: Some TalkSport AM transmitters to close
Worst during the short winter days when the ionosphere changes approaching darkness causing medium and low frequency signals to propagate via the sky.
When the ground and sky wave signals converge at the receiver the result is multi path distortion which can be an uncomfortable for the listener. Not to mention echoes from other transmitters on the same frequency and and interference from foreign stations, especially Spanish ones... mala leche! |
