seeing it makes it believable - what you may not realise is that the machine is actually travelling backwards during this manouver ....

I've seen more extreme manoevers than that with a Chinook. There are a few videos on youtube. Seeing the video just makes it look even more crazy.

I love Chinooks. I'd love to ride in one but the last remaining civillians models have gone out of service now. Not sure I want to fly around Afghanistan in one getting shot at either :p:

Nope, it was going forward and about to turn on its axis and go the other way. :)

Not a good few weeks for planes

B777 scrapes it tail on landing

German stunt plane crash

Aircraft crashes in Manchester (just round the corner from where I used to live)

Light Aircraft crashes into field

And there a few more I've not mentioned.. Amazingly only one person died in the links above
