OK thanks. VM excluded 50M broadband only then, mine went up yesterday to 100 dl and 10 up. Not complaining just curious.

Re: Speed change?

Got an email from VM on how they've doubled my speeds today. "We estimate that at peak times the download speed to your Virgin Media Hub will range between 108Mbps and 111Mbps". What they fail to say is that my Network Interface Card (NIC) is only 10/100 so I will only get a fraction of that. (85Mbps) Not sure I want to pay out for a gigabit NIC. No doubt a price increase will follow soon. :(

You’ll get a gig NIC for under £10 from ebuyer or Amazon.

Not sure I'm staying with VM but thanks for the info. Interesting, speedtest gave me this;

It really would be worth upgrading to a gigabit card, I haven't seen 100mbit nics in donkeys. The last time I had one was 20 years ago.

Is it up to Virgin to tell you about YOUR NIC?

Yes of course, VM told me that my speeds would double, they won't.

Why on that speed test, the language wasn't in English?

Of course it’s not. Virgin Media have absolutely no knowledge of the equipment you have.

They have doubled to your hub, should they also tell you your 20 year old laptop with wireless G wont give you 100mb

Called false advertising. Actual speed went from 55 to 75 MBPS.

Because of your equipment, not theirs...

I don't see any false advertising there.

However, it wouldn't be a bad idea for them to point out that your equipment also needs to be fast enough, to avoid some unnecessary fault calls.
