Toblerone Bar to revert to original shape

Quote:

Makers of the Swiss chocolate bar, Toblerone, are to scrap its latest incarnation which saw wide gaps between its distinctive triangular chunks.

That version was introduced in 2016 to reduce its weight but drew criticism, with some likening it to a bike rack.

US-based Mondelez International said the new shape had not been a "perfect long-term answer" for its customers.

Now it plans to increase the current size from 150g to 200g and revert to making it in its traditional shape.

Great news, although they haven't mentioned anything about price....

Hold your horses Mr K as you might need to sit down..

It might be wise to hold onto your celebrations though, as one retail source told the Guardian the price could take a mountainous 200 per cent hike to £3.09.

Its alright as there is likely to be a cheaper copycat bar available which should suit your cheap and cheerful pocket.;)

The discounter said it would respond by bringing back a redesigned version of Twin Peaks, its Toblerone copycat bar, at the end of the summer. Poundland sold half a million of the lookalikes earlier this year but has been forced to redesign it after a legal battle with the Swiss original’s owners.

I still won't buy one regardless after the way Kraft/Mondelez handled the purchase of Cadbury and reneged on their assurances over jobs.

Cadburys were a iconic British company who we allowed to go into foreign hands sadly.

Thank goodness.

Not bought a Toblerone since the crazy change was made.

Coincidentally, I did try and buy a bar a week ago - Sainsburys, Co-op, Poundland, RSMcColl - none in stock.

I thoughts something was up, clearly this was it!
