Transfer my contacts from a J5 2017 to a file

I have a Samsung J5 2017 version and want to know how I can transfer my contacts to a file on my computer?

I am not sure about a file, but if you make all your contacts 'google contacts' on the phone then just log into your google account on your computer and you will have all your contacts there.

Sync to email account is best but Samsung have Kies (I believe) that allows you to sync or you could transfer to sim then transfer back to phone. I sync mine to email then there always backed up.

Not all email services include contact syncing.

The advice above regarding Google Contacts is the best.

If the phone has a Gmail account account you can access it via login to your account on the web browser.

Yes that is what i said but this will only work if the contacts have been saved as google contacts. :)

You need a Google account with Android phones for most stuff. You can't access the Play Store without one for instance.

Exactly, all he has to do is convert each contact to a google contact, it is the correct and easiest thing to do.

Ken you must have a google account for when you set up the phone?? After checking it looks like you don't need one but it is kinda strange someone who buys an android phone doesn't set it up with a google account to make it simple and straight forward.

If you need to remember passwords then use the LASTPASS on the PC and phone.

Just setup a google account for your google phone, and change each contact to a google contact, that's what you need to do.

I use this to backup and restore contacts but you will need a Google account.

Why are you wanting to do that ? Are you changing phone ? If so you should be able to save the contacts to the SIM card and swap that over to the new phone. Failing that you can export to a vcf file, see the import/export options under contacts.

That depends on how much info is on the contact I don't think you can copy it all over easier to do it the proper Google contacts way, then it'll appear on the new phone when logging in. But I suspect Ken just wants to back them up.
