Zoom app not working via virgin wifi (macbook/ios)
 

hi guys

it was working a week ago but not its completely stopped

when i try and start a video, it stays on 'connecting' message and a black video screen

once i start a vpn and try again - it works

i have it enabled via firewall on my mac os
there is no virgin filters set
i have tried resetting router and the bt homewifi devices i have connected
but no joy


its the same on my mobile

can anyone advise?

It seems the child-safe filter rules might block Zoom. There are a couple of slightly badly-described workarounds in that thread, have a look and see if it fixes it for you.

strange its not active

i am using bt homewifi but checked the settings in there and there is nothing

when i have a vpn running it will connect, its something wifi related to virgin

I still have no idea what “BT homewifi are the wireless points” means, if you’re a Virgin cable subscriber and using Virgin cable internet. BT shouldn’t come into the picture at all.

If you can run Zoom with your VPN and you can’t without, then it has nothing to do with your home Wi-fi setup. Your internet service provider is blocking zoom for some reason.

BT Home WiFi works with all Broadband providers.

my home service provider is virgin

bthome wifi is a mesh wifi system to spread wifi around the house

I’ve been using Zoom all day today on Virgin broadband without problem

Guys I’ve tried restarting the router tried the Wi-Fi via the main virgin router and it doesn’t connect

Tried Mac zoom tries iOS zoom app
So strange just doesn’t want to connect
