It's not that long ago they changed to Shopping Quarter and then quickly changed back. Probably cost cutting.

It’s only been ‘promised’ (if that’s the right word) for the 360 boxes, and it’s still not appeared on those yet and we have had no updates on that information.

Whether the V6s will ever support it, I am not optimistic.

I have found that Nat Geo on demand only got programmes listed up to a 29th of January on my TiVo box.

Base on information I found on demand it look like Virgin's deal with National Geographic is up on January 29th with Astra UK soon to follow next month.

According to that poster Dizagaox from Digital Spy

Quote:

Serious discussions are taking place between Virgin and Sky with Disney, including switching over to a pan-European feed (no catchup or streaming rights), but as of right now, Disney is closing down the National Geographic UK linear channel on 1st February 2022 at 5am.

All past content starts a mass migration over to Disney+ from this Wednesday.

All new National Geographic content is exclusive to Disney+ from this Wednesday.

It's from 1st March

Our prices are going up from 1st March 2022.
Dear ,
We know a price rise is never welcome, but it’s essential we continue investing in our technology. It means you can keep doing the things you need to do – and love to do – on all your devices. To help us carry on with this work, the price of your package will go up by £8.50 a month from 1st March.

Last year we worked hard to give you a better experience with us, improving our network capabilities and fixing faults, but we’re not stopping there.

Same here despite me being promised a fixed price for the duration of my contract.

If they don’t drop the increase I’m offski, can’t be bothered with the hassle of renegotiating again.

From December 28th 2021: Jewellery Maker says "It just wasn’t one of our main source where (Virgin Media) customers were tuning in so we made a business decision to stop airing on Virgin. I pay £90.50 per month, but I don't know the name of the package, they can ram their inflation-busting price rise right up their jacksy.

Thanks for that. I got my email today, £8.50 from 22 May after my fixed price ends. I currently pay £66.75, from May the discount ends, then the price will be £111.30... that's for a TV360 box, Cinema and Full house without kids channels.

It's been confirmed that 5Action will be available in HD on VM, just as Paramount Network has been since it launched.

Now that 5USA, 5Star and 5Select are available in HD on Sky Glass, is there a possibility that VM may add them too?

It's always good news when a new HD channel arrives. The one channel that is long overdue an HD upgrade is Drama. There are lots of (repeated) programmes on that channel that I would love to watch (again) if only the SD picture quality wasn't so dire.

Has anyone else seen this "onscreen message" in England?

I can confirm it not on BBC ALBA or BBC Parliament here in Scotland. Also in Scotland we have nothing on Channel 113 so Virgin can move BBC Scotland HD to channel 113 or put BBC THREE HD on Channel 113 in Scotland and Wales.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2022)

It will probably be BBC One HD England but allocated to regional service IDs. The regional SIDs were added some time ago but the NIT hasn't yet been updated. Presumably, the change coming next week will simply be the NIT being updated. Nothing is actually testing as such, the old England SID and the new regional SIDs link to the same video and audio streams. Virgin will then be prepared to switch to the actual HD regional services as soon as they become available.

The 858 HD service IDs probably won't be added until the actual HD regions are available.

Anyone from England can help me.

In Mansfield (East Midlands) advertises BBC London 14 January 18.30 instead of test card advising you to select 101. How is that an improvement?

It does look promising but I'd advise some caution when making predictions from the EPG. The EPG listing you are seeing is for SID10127 and that service ID doesn't become the London feed, it will end when the services migrate to the new regional SIDs. Anything listed for the channel after the 11th is unreliable. I would normally ask for data for the regional SIDs but, from what I have been told, they have not yet been populated with programme listings. Checking the EPG listings after the change on the 11th will probably be more reliable than checking what is there now.

You aren't seeing the listings for the East Midlands, at the moment, everyone in England is seeing the same listings for service id 10127. Eventually, that service will be swept away and replaced by regional services 10178 to 10191, At the moment, these are still pre-configured for EPG channel 108 and are all labelled "BBC ONE HD" with no region in the name. Check the EPG listings after the change on the 11th for more accurate information.

I was told last night that Local BBC News in HD is set to launch on January 14th on Virgin Channel 108.

But on January 11th you will need to reset any series links you have for BBC 1 HD (Channel 108) as you will move from BBC One HD England to BBC One HD East Mids ahead of you local news starting to be shown in HD from January 14th.

NOTE: I do not work for Virgin Media so all the information I post on Cable Forum, Media Boy Blog or Media Boy on Twitter is subject to change.

What exactly will happen to the series links?
Will they still be there, but won't find any programmes because labelling of the channel has changed?
What happens to any individual recordings set up in the "My Planned Recordings"?

Saved shows will still be there on the 360 box(es).

I'd expect that any existing planned recordings on the 360 on BBC One HD will just not record until it's cancelled and set up again.

Doesn't look like it'll be free without the sports addon this time.

Probably more a case of people seeing an error on the EPG and jumping the gun to announce the launch of the BBC One HD regions. Meanwhile, the new regional service IDs for BBC One HD (England) are now active. Time to update favourites and series links etc for the new services. Similarly, BBC One South East (SD) on channel 858 has been split into 2 new service IDs, so will also require an update to favourites / series links etc.

Of all the EPG Genres, movies is probably the most suited to on-demand, so a live 4K movie channel is an unusual development.

If I was to take an educated guess I suspect the 4K channel is probably there to serve customers in a territory/country that still has patchy broadband coverage...

From what I'm told by my friends in Italy, coverage and speeds there would give the UK a run for its money.

ah more bill increases confirmed and my loyalty discount ends in april so a whopping 38 quid increase incoming... coupled with the fact im new on virgin mobile and got zero "loyalty" bonuses for having "both services".

Usually an email to mockbridge got the retentions team to call me 2-3 weeks after. I assume now with this new guy that whole process is over and i now have to kick, scream and scratch for some kind of continuing loyalty discount? Any advice? Well, if £3.17 a month extra is going to produce such a reaction, you'll be a basket case when you see your fuel bill increase that's coming in the spring.

its £38 pounds a month not £3.17

Mine will be a £37.50 per month increase in August
My parents will be a £48 per month increase in April
My brother £42.5 per month increase in September

I will phone up and try to get as close as to what we pay now when the time comes, but Sky is looking a better deal at these prices (around £150 for old VIP)

Not trying to tell you (or anyone) to jump ship but we've found Sky to be very open to doing a deal.

When it's end of contract time I just give them a call and ask what they can do. If they can't beat the new customer prices then they'll match them but only if you specifically ask them to (a bit underhand that they'll happily rip you off if you don't ask, but I suppose you've got to play the game).

Ah, yes, Vince is coming to the end of a deal, so I see why the increase is so steep. Sorry, Vince!

Anyone who is not on a deal will face a much smaller increase.

Virgin Media hasn’t publicly confirmed the exact amounts it will be increasing prices by, but it has said the average monthly increase is £4.70, which is £56.40 per year.

That can't be right, surely?

Are you sure it's a £37.50/£40/£42.50 per month increase? Or is it just going up by a few pounds to £37.50/£40/£42.50 per month?

I am sure that’s what most of us do when an existing deal is due to expire. The example Vince gives will impact everyone coming to the end of a deal, but the increase on advertised packages comes out at 3.9%.

It’s because it’s the end of special deals that he’s referring to. You always face a hike in prices at the end of a deal, but then you just start haggling again.

I see now, I assumed this was related to the conversation about the recently announced price hikes, not the typical situation at the end of retention deals.

They've never said anything publicly but it's not impossible. It has been suggested by some that the E4 deal for 106 might be up soonish and BBC3 might get the slot it vacated back eventually.

When my previously discounted deals have ended, I've usually been offered very similar deals to stay as a customer, if this doesn't happen when my current deal comes to an end later in the spring, then there's no way I will be paying an extra £38 or whatever the amount is.

But Create & Craft new owner did say on Tuesday: "In due course, Hochanda will merge the two businesses to offer customers a wider choice of crafts and suppliers."

What will happen to Create & Craft HD and Create & Craft Extra on Astra UK?
Will Virgin Media drop Create & Craft or launch The Craft Store?
Will The Craft Store drop a Create & Craft brand?

Create & Craft Extra may become The Craft Store Offers.
