He's also getting a bit more involved with DAZN as part of the deal.

The kind of deal that streamers need longer term as they develop sustainable business models.

Interesting, obviously they need him to build the brand in the UK. It’s a lot of money for someone on the way down - a loss to Usyk would leave him with three defeats and scratching around for a rematch with Dillan Whyte for a payday as the rest of the division moves onto Fury v Usyk (plus inevitable rematch).

DAZN tried this in the USA to develop their subscription base with Saul Alvarez guaranteed $365m for 10 fights. The deal fell apart after 2 or 3. His last fight was back on DAZN but pay per view - getting 200,000 to 300,000 less buys than his last one on a major network. In the UK that’s small change but US PPVs are regularly $79 or $99.

Great football fans have to fork out yet more money if they want to see matches of their choice.

It'll be interesting to see if Amazon deem this 'enough' for a separate sports add on or whether the intention is to continue to absorb it into Prime.

Given BT will have multiple games on the same night and at least 1 in the same timeslot it's likely that for the vast majority of the year it will only appeal to fans of the affected clubs.

As Amazon will only have about one game per week I would expect that would be a part of Prime.

Yeah not worth subbing too in my opinion, especially for me who works night shift a few times a week so not always able to see all night matches.

Slightly embarrassing if the rumours of Sky securing AJ’s next (and possibly last) big fight are true. Deep pockets DAZN not deep enough to endure their own brand ambassador doesn’t fight anywhere else.

I would expect it to rebranded as V Sport if Viaplay buys Premier Sports.

I tip DAZN as the other unnamed interested party.

A purchase by Viaplay or DAZN makes sense. The market is simply too crowded.

I suspect BeIN might merge with another broadcaster or be sold after the World Cup.
