Poor Newcastle fans.

However many of them are left. I think Ashley might have rocked the boat too far this time. Angry fans are one thing. Ones that feel apathy though are more dangerous.

A depressing update though. 12,000 season tickets were cancelled.

Newcastle close to £36 million Joelinton deal. After refusing to back Rafa Benitez.

Clearly this was about the power and reputation Rafa had amongst the fans and had nout to do with money. I sense Newcastle are about to go spend happy which will only further enrage the fan base.

Must be nice to have more than £30 million to spend on the market :(

We didn't until Benitez left.. Fairly strange that. He was offered 50 million and the ability to only sign players under 28. Both were sticking points. See: Rondon. 50m would equate to a little less than 30 given the players needed and fees/logistics.

I'll have to see it to believe it but its suddenly expected Bruce is going to have over £100 million to faf around with. Further evidence Newcastle are actually sat on a massive pile of cash that the board were refusing to sanction a spending spree with.

It remains to be seen whether Newcastle will use staggered payments for deals or whether upfront payments will continue. The club is still in a no win situation. As above. Massive spending will enrage fans. Spending nothing will enrage fans.

Staying in the Premiership will please Ashley though, one point above relegation places will suffice for the cash cow to keep giving ;)

Old Stevie Bruce was 11th choice manager. 10 people turned them down on a list that included Garry Monk and Sam Allardyce :D

Bruce will not last long at Newcastle I fear.

Sheffield Wednesday will drop Newcastle United legal case if they send two players on loan. :D

No, that's not a joke.

Joelinton to be announced in a few hours.

Update on Sheffield Wednesday. They have reported Newcastle United to the Premier League.

Good grief you would think we are still stuck in the dark ages at times in this country.

We may not be in the Dark Ages, but we still have the rich feudal landlords knowing what's best for the peasantry :D

oh, and when monetary gain (in vast amounts) relies on a miniscule difference (offside, over the goal line, handball etc), then those who stand to gain will push to sterilize sport

It's not entertainment, it's profit/loss
