Re: The PS4 Thread

The PS4 will have DRM, it's just up to the publishers if they want to use it. It was just announced on GameTrailers...

That is a massive gaff if true after what Sony have said. They'll look like liars and Microsoft will look honest.

Re: The PS4 Thread

I know, shady move on their part. From what I'm reading they've also said it's upto the publishers to dictate the terms of the DRM. So MS has one system but Sony have went with letting publishers do whatever they want.

Re: The PS4 Thread

It looks like they are saying Publishers can put it into their own games but no signs it's inbuilt into the console. I.E Online passes. So they're in the clear at the moment.

From what I'm seeing it could mean you'd have to be connected to things like Origin, uPlay and stuff. We all know how well that tends to work on PC, so imagine on a console.

Nah it doesn't seem to mean that. That wouldn't work anyway because of the lack of online requirement. It seems, according to the IGN article anyway, that it's up to the publishers and they would need to write their own software to do it. Same as they do now with online passes.

Better explanation: http://www.destructoid.com/did-trett...ctZq7mf1tt2.16

We have to wait and see to ensure Sony are really not changing anything but the interview today did not confirm Sony has DRM.

"Digital" is just a distribution method. Whether you bought the game via the PSN Store or on a disc, it is still a PS3 game, still coded for PS3s only, and therefore won't work on a PS4.

Microsoft look like greedy fools, to me, regardless of anything Sony have said or will say.

Re: The PS4 Thread

Can't see many publishers implementing DRM on a huge scale besides the usual greedy EA. So I'ts not really that big of a problem before it gets out of hand again.

Re: The PS4 Thread

Sony clarified and said it's just for used games that have online. Basically online pass stuff.
