My wife, and even more so my daughter where definitely not amused. And neither of them ever watch or ever will watch womens football. I have tried to watch it myself but usually give up after about ten minutes.

I once scored an own goal, when I was 9. Genuinely forgot which way we were going, couldn't believe the goal was wide open and I'd never scored before, so in it went. Cracking shot too. PE teacher commended me on it till some oik told him which side I was on.... So endeth my football career.

I've seen far worse than that in the mens' game. I thought France were technically very good, the first goal was a great finish. Personally I think the women's game has improved a lot overall, helped no doubt by them turning professional/semi pro.

Same with cricket, standard is a lot higher now they've gone professional.

It has compared to even a few years ago. The professionalism has clearly helped. However some teams are now spending a lot more on youth development so when that generation comes on there should be a massive improvement still.

Bin-Zayed Group hope to confirm the takeover of Newcastle United by the end of June. Seems like all in place and we're awaiting the relevant checks and transfer of ownership from the Premier League.

Oh and they clarified the Rafa situation. They have every intention of retaining Benitez.

Something hefty going on at Newcastle both yesterday and today. Middle Eastern news reporting BZG have completed the Premier League checks and are set to announce they've taken over the club. Think that's still a bit premature.

Not sure on the effect this will have throughout the league but I reckon there'll be some cold chills down the necks of Chelsea, Arsenal, Man United and Spurs.

Of course the chant of there's only two Man City's will become a thing.

Realistically though we'll see you in a few years. :D
