Commonwealth Games

Pleased to see 'Jersualem' being used as the national anthem for England. So much better than 'God Save the Queen'. Think they've also used 'Land of Hope and Glory' in previous games which is also better.

However a blue running track? We're taking this Brexit thing too far , blue passports are enough ;)

Ruddy hell, we're out of the netball and the cricket.. Why is no one interested in the Commonwealth games? Did it die with the Empire?

Birmingham has more canals than Venice, interesting that... ;)

Re: Commonwealth Games

"God save the Queen" has the advantage of putting the most important person first. It asks God's blessing on our ruler and thus on the nation. "Jerusalem" is just odd, "And did those feet...", well no, Jesus never came physically to England but is that really what Blake is stating? Even here though it's possible that Blake is intimating that our national and personal blessing start with God and then it's up to us to use those blessing in building our nation.

It's still a rubbish anthem.

It is possible that there might not be a future Commonwealth Games, not least as the 2026 Games is very much in doubt.

The Commonwealth itself might be in doubt. Nothing lasts forever. Particularly since we became Little England, and a Royal Family that has little significance to anyone, home or abroad, anymore.
