Round v Square dining room tables.
Do you prefer a round or a square dining room table and why?
I personally think that a square one is more practical, but don't have a particular preference from an aesthetic perspective. |
Re: Round V Square dining room tables.
In our kitchen diner we have a rectangular table that is the same height as the breakfast bar on the dining side*. For parties I move the table up at right-angles to the BB and it makes a single buffet serving surface.
* Kitchen side floor is about 8" lower than the dining side. |

Rectangular, can normally seat 6, expands with additional section to seat 10.

I prefer an obtuse triangle for my dining table. Usually have to make them myself .

Square (well rectangular really).
Ours sits 4 normally, but can be extended if required. |

Mine is round, hand made locally.

Re: Round v Square dining room tables.
Our main one is round that expands to an oval. Round is good as there are no corners to walk into and sit our four nicely. We can fit five with a minimal shuffle and expanded fit eight at a squeeze.
We also have a rectangle, drop leaf so it's normally folded "flat" and pushed against wall. We can lift one or both the leafs as needed. |

Rectangular seats six expands to seat ten if required.
Always wanted one of the round tables that expand in segments , just because i think the mechanism is intriguing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FooHhYwNjXs |

I used to think that square tables were more efficient space wise for crockery/cutlery, but a round table lends itself a little better to squeezing extra people in,- now I don't know what to think! |

Somebody please close this thread. It would be a merciful release....;)
