DragonWolf
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2164468/ I think its a German production filmed in Thailand, with German/English/Thai actors. It has its moments, the acting is crap but the fight scenes are well played out, choreographed and shot. With that said the fight scenes made the film, a little bit of T&A, a little bit gritty. Its one of those "oh i've got sod all to do for an hour or 2" moments, stick it on and flick through to the best bits. 6/10 |

12 Years a Slave.
Good. Quite brutal. They don't shy away from making you quite uncomfortable. Scenes always hang on that bit longer that you could like as well. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Gravity, I really enjoyed this film. CGI was superb, well acted 9/10

Bula Quo! ... Status Quo's Parfitt and Rossi having a lark in Fiji with loads of their music. It has its funny moments (e.g. the scuba dive off a sunken ship's big gun).

As a Jack Ryan film its not that great but as a generic spy/action film it was mostly enjoyable. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
RoboCop 8/10 still a classic although in no way perfect.
RoboCop 2014 7/10 a lot better than expected just don't see it and try to compare it to the original. A few cool nods to the original had me laugh out loud. The theme tune is still there! |

RoboCop (2014)
Just back from seeing this. It was... surprisingly not awful :D I still prefer the original, but I did actually really enjoy this version. It doesn't have the ultra-violence or the humour, and the only attempt at satire is SLJ's TV host, but it's actually quite well done and has a different take compared to the original. I missed it having a villain like Kurtwood Smith's Clarence (the equivalent guy in this was pretty crap), but Keaton and Oldman were very good as the OmniCorp boss and Robo's inventor respectively. Also nice to see The Wire & Boardwalk Empire's Michael K. Williams. Oh, and Oldman's assistant was hot (Vegas and Dexter's Aimee Garcia). Maybe... 7/10, perhaps 8. [The original is one of my "tens".] |

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Just watched Expendables 2 on Netflix. Throughly enjoyed it, you have to take it for what it is. An what it is entertainment, with some really fun moments.
Anyone know why Netflix is such poor quality on Xbox-one? |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Dunno. I tried it again on Sunday and got fed up at the sound being out of sync so used my PS3 instead.
I really liked Expendables 2, enjoyed it a lot more than the first. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Thanks I watched both Expendables. I did enjoy them both but a couple of the green screen stuff was too obvious, way too obvious.
Any other suggestions? |

Totally loved it, a lot of suspense and action. Great story and very much a sequal to the 1954 original. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Just watched Pacific Rim with the family I liked it, but then again I like action/adventure. I find it quite hard to find a film that we all can watch with the kids as one is 11 and the other 21, we all enjoyed this film.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Wednesday -
X-Men: Days of Future Past (cinema, 3D) 8/10 Not as good as X-Men 2 or X-Men: First Class, but still very good. 3D was pointless, though. This weekend - The Matrix (BD) 10/10. 15 years old and still awesome. Pacific Rim (3D BD) This was the first time I've seen Pacific Rim in 3D and it was awesome - it joins the small list of 3D films that I think have both good *and* worthwhile use of 3D (e.g. Avatar, Gravity, Prometheus, DREDD...). This was also the 2nd test of my new AVR (the first was The Matrix yesterday, with uncompressed 5.1 LPCM from the X1), and the DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack was brilliant. Anyway. The film may be a cliched cheesefest, but for pure fun and awesomeness it's a 9/10. |

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Oh crap - dunno what I was doing there, but there's no way I'd give Last Stand anything like that :erm: :dunce:
I meant Days of Future Past :o: --------- Casino Royale (BD) Daniel Craig's first Bond isn't his best (nor his worst), but it's still a bloody good film, and a welcome reboot for the franchise after the ABSOLUTELY AWFUL Die Another Day. Eva Green is also the most stunningly beautiful "Bond Girl" ever. 8/10 |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
X-Men: Days of Future Past 8/10.
Really enjoyed it, and they have almost re-booted the X-Men universe (just like Star Trek did). |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Yup, DOFP and First Class before it are definitely more like reboots of the franchise than standard prequels or sequels.
First Class had already introduced a variety of inconsistencies with the original trilogy, and DOFP has introduced even more (even before the time travel...). |

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
The Raid 2
Awesome! Longer than the first film, and without the fast pace. But that's OK - it's not meant to be the same kind of film as the first. This one is more like an Indonesian version of The Departed... but with added spectacular fight scenes. It may not have the non-stop action of The Raid, but it's still very good and the fight scenes are just... amazing. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Cohesion 7/10 good film which is sort of predictable and very watchable.
I Frankenstein 7/10 another watchable film if passing the Mary Shelley book a tad to far. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Godzilla 4/10 Totally forgettable. 20 mins of Godzilla in 2 hours, most fight scenes were off camera which was very noticable, thin plot, not a lot happens. I could sum up the entire film in one short sentence but won't for spoilers.
The effects were quite good though. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw

It's Godzilla, surely you weren't expecting an amazing in depth story. I think they tried to make the plot more involved by including the family stuff to try and make you feel more emotion. |

IMO this is the worst Godzilla movie of all. Even the early Godjira series were more entertaining. I thought Monsters was no-budget trash and not worthy of marking. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Monsters was low budget but the director showed what you could achieve with very little money. It also proved that creating an atmosphere and suspense can be better than just destroying everything and just making it about the monster. It makes you think a bit more and that for me is a trick that most film makers have forgotten these days.
So you are saying the awful 90s Hollywood Godzilla was better than this? But thats just my opinion. |

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
The Fast and Furious: Tokyo drift.
Because I was actually in a good mood, I tried to look for the good points, so here goes. It looks pretty and the car racing is good.. The Bad: It tries to an action movie and a good drama, but doesn't have enough action to pull off being an action movie, and it lacks both the good story and good acting required for a good drama. 1/10 |
