I hope she gets a reward from the British Music industry.

Boy what a voice, I thought she was just a singer for kids but she has a voice equal to Mariah Carey, and I did have a tear in my eye with her version of Somewhere over the rainbow.

You're quite right. The article showed such insight to his reason and reasoning behind his inspiration and drive. I'm surprised that he was so candid. Thanks for sharing.:tu:

Not seen Muse live, but have a few friends who have who all said even arena shows are really good.

Funnily enough the first time I saw NIN was at Wembly Stadium, Pretty Hate Machine had just come out, they were the the first support act, next on stage was Skid Row, then Guns N Roses!

Saw QotSA touring Songs for the Deaf, no Grohl, but they were really good.

Re: What music are you listening to?

QotSA one to me sounds like another case of
album 1 - excellent
album 2 - exclellent
album 3 - we're getting a bit more popular, set lets make an excellent slightly more mainstream rock album, don't get me wrong, I love Songs for the Deaf, but the music was used on the football, F1 etc (Saw them touring that cd, they were excellent live)
album 4 onwards - we're making serious cash now, this formula works, if we can get even more radio friendly, and carry on pushing the "We're mates with Dave Grohl" thing we'll be millionaires soon ;)
this album Mark Ronson? Normally guys like this aspire to work with the likes of Rick Rubin, Steve Albini et al. ;)

On a side note I saw that Josh Homme is going to be reading a story for cbeebies :)

I was listening to Dead Cross today, excellent hardcore/metal from a bunch of all fogeys (Michael Crain, Justin Pearson, Dave Lombardo, Mike Patton) who should know better ;)

Mark Ronson worked on the production of the new QotSA album. He had input:on what level I don't know. But I think I might be parting with some £££ soon :D
The rest of the album is hmm not quite my style. But I'm off to listen to your previous post.

Well it was just a new song

The Blackout

Then the actual single (a different song) appears a few days later

https://youtu.be/PbGSiJ9iat8

Much better but still a bit too poppy for my liking.

I hate the production, it's saturated with beat detective and autotune. Larry is not hitting his drums like a real drummer so what's going on there? They've been working with Ryan Tedder from that dreadful band One Republic though so none of the fact that this material soulless and sterile comes as any surprise.

I quite liked the Joshua Tree album; but it's plain sad when bands just don't know when to give up. I mean that they can't bring anything new. I'm not sure how big their fan base is now. Their relevant 'fighting spirit' has gone. Lazy.

Simple Minds were a big 80's band but they have been much better than U2 on their recent albums, at least critically if not commercially.

They played one new song from the album at the very end of the encore. Other than that it was some quick fire classics then the Joshua Tree from beginning to end.

Gonna bounce this one into here . .

I've been listening to some old Radio 1 rock concerts, mainly from the Friday Rock Show (Tommy Vance RIP) if any here remember those days.

Also on that site are quite a few downloads of complete or partial recordings of the actual shows, broadcast 10 to midnight Fridays.

I also recently picked up the most recent Blink 182 album California (released last year), that's been in the car cd player, and is surprisingly good, I haven't really kept up to date with them or pop punk in general (kind of grew out of it ;) ) I guess they've grown up as well, so less whining about teenage angst ;)

last night I was listening to Body Count Bloodlust, which came out last year, and is very good, I don't think I've listened to them since my college days when the first two albums came out, saw them touring the second at Brixton :)

Anyway, this album is very good, it's got some strong though provoking lyrics, but the music is really good as well if you don't care for the message ;)

as a contrast now listening to the new Fall Out Boy - Mania, which I can't see myself bothering to stream again, life is sometimes too short for second chances for things to grow on you ;) I'm sure I've missed in some gems that way, but I don't think I am this time :( Bit too poppy for my liking, not sure why I didn't think it would be!

Thanks, that's what getting old for and carrying heavy equipment at work does to you. Country music is good - normally start YouTube going first thing and just let it play so often hear country.

Cheers

my kids have got into Kiss, not due to me (I prefer heavier stuff), but due to Scooby-Doo! and Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scooby...d_Roll_Mystery

they love it, and them suddenly breaking out into song and singing "I was made for lovin you" makes a nice change from "Let it go" :) \m/

The kiss is my song tbh, I liked Guns and Roses, Bon Jovi etc whereas hubby liked the likes of AC/DC etc

I used to think Axl Rose was fab much to hubby's annoyance.
