ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards

Right, the plan is that we get everyone to vote for this site :D |

The voting site will I think be here: http://www.ntlworld.com/broadbandawards/ |
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
For a minute there I thought they had created their own award saying that NTL was the best broadband ;) Now we all know they would win that award in a fair fight :p:
|
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
If this is Bill 'Cap' Goodland's idea, we should mount a campaign for www.anticap.co.uk to win it. :D

So, in our house it'll be one vote for cbeebies, one for mumsnet.com and one for Cable Forum. Actually, I'd best not mention the awards to Mrs T, she'd mount a campaign for Mumsnet to win it and they have a very large number of active posters. :erm: |
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
off topic......If the kids like cbeebies then they should love Kwaala & Boowa :)

Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
Having "come back on the 2nd September" to vote for the best website, I find that that the site is inactive. Is this some kind of ironic joke on ntl's behalf?
|
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
Will be interesting to see if it still says it tomorrow too. Somehow, I think it will still be there.
/me wonders how we'll be able to come back in time to vote. Anyone got a spare flux-capacitor they can lend me..? |
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
Well in all fairness they didn't say what time on the 2nd, but you would think the beginning of the day, wouldn't you.
Perhaps they will open it later, or maybe they haven't finished it yet and will launch it tomorrow and hope nobody noticed. Nothing else to do by speculate as there's no update from ntl anywhere on any of their sites, but that's not really a new concept to ntl. |
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
Seems to me that NTL really are extracting the urine here.A best of BB award from them? They desperately need a new webmaster and designer for one thing because their site is a lurid disgusting mess. You can't find anything you want because it is such a mass of conflicting ads and links and anything vital is very well hidden away.Hardly useful unless you have summat to hide.
If there was an example of how not run and have a site they would win hands down.MY brain shuts in shock down everytime I visit purely due to that disgusting purple they are so fond of. Sorry this was not very positive of me was it?I suppose trying to encourage better web design and websites is a good thing but reeaally they need to sort their own site out desperately as well. |
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
Gone 3pm, still nothing.
|
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
Could it be the new NTL proxy servers have not released the new information yet????? ;):rofl:
|
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
Coming soon! 'Come back on Friday 3rd September to enter your website'

Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
just one day more, more time to get ppl to vote for your site
|
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
The page is now open for nominations ... www.cableforum.co.uk duly nominated :D Although, with Aziad Hussein and Bill Goodland both on the judging panel, I expect to see Hades suffering its first frost of winter before this site wins any awards, sadly. :(

I don't think you can nominate in all categories...
The helping hand category appears to be the most suitable category, and its been done now, so no more nominations please. :D |
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
ermmmmm.......I hate to say this but the 'Helping hand' category is :"for the best website to support a charitable cause" :erm:
We probably need to be entering our site in the 'best hobby or interest website ' category people! |
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
Er....it says you can submit a site until 24th September. Its the 29th now. Whats goin on?

The website says "You have until Friday 24 September 2004 to get your entries in." Its way past the 24th September, but its still allowing entries... |
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
So........We're meant to be able to see who's shortlisted now. What a complete waste of time this "awards" project was. They cant even get it sorted on time. Heck, its still letting people enter websites!, that was meant to stop on the 24th September...
Anyone know anything bout it? |
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
Its your typical Ntl balls up, nothing else to say really!
|
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
Where do you vote as I entered my website
|
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
Well they have FINALLY shortlisted the sites. And i have to say, most of them are absolutely **** (no disrespect to owners, but there are much better ones out there)
Oh well! http://bestofbritish.eqtr.com/submit.asp (make sure u press CTRL+F5 lse old page will be cached) |
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
what a surprise, no Cable Forum. :dozey:
|
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
I cant believe some of those sites they have shortlisted, some are so lame and worthy of no award.
|
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
Having a look at most of them, they are absolutely awful - some of the worst web design I have ever seen.
|
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards

Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
 Sorry. I am the complete weirdo that created www.drwho.co.nr - Doctor Who Net.
I apologise if anybody has any problems with my site. I would like to assure you that I am doing my best to sort them out. I fixed many errors so that now it shouldn't crash anyone's browser. The website is being updated all the time and I have now replaced some of the rubbish with interesting facts and trivia on all aspects of Doctor Who. If anbody is still having problems, feel free to Email me at natendan@waitrose.com. Thank you, Dan Edwards [Creator of Droctor who Net, winner of the NTL Broadband awards] |
Re: ntl creates 'Best of British' broadband awards
Congrats on winning your award. I hope you don't feel offended by some of the comments in this thread - it seems that the judges and ntl had something different in mind to most of us who post here ;)
ps - it works fine for me, using Firefox on Winblows XP. |
