So, Currys called me back today !! Disc Console but you have to buy a years PSN subscription and a £20 store credit so £510 before i add extras on. They'll be in stock on the 26th June so should have it shortly after...

Now, how do i convince SWMBO that the existing TV just isn't good enough......?

If you're not aware you get 20 FREE PS4 games with PS Plus on PS5 so check those out, I can recommend God Of War.

Astro Bot is a must to try out the controller features, this comes Free with PS5.

A few games that come to mind.
Spiderman PS4
Spiderman Miles Morales.
Horizon Zero Dawn is also great.

Remember to claim PS Plus monthly games by the 1st Tuesday of every month.

Unfortunately not for Horizon, there is a patch for 4K60 for God of War though.

I personally always take 60fps over any form of ray tracing too

I've had a number of notifications in recent days for stock. Amazon had some yesterday or this morning. Setup up notifications through telegram etc. There are also some twitter profiles that track stock.

I'm so pleased with my PS5, I hear stories of coil whine and noisy fans and disc drive but even with my head pressed up against the console I hear nothing wrong.

I've just purchased a 1TB NVMe which I will pop off the cover and install at the weekend.

This is for anyone who wants the new Premium tier 3 PS PLUS which launches in June for only £49.99, normal price is £99.99.

Basically Sony have said anyone with a current NOW sub will get upgraded for free to the top premium tier, so if you use this below work around in the Resetera link which links you to the PSN store it will let you purchase NOW for 12 months for £49.99 a saving of £49.99 when it gets upgraded.

The reason I'm posting this is Sony have removed all 12 month options from sale but this somehow ignores it.

Well I got an alert that Playstation Direct had the console in stock, I got into the queue as soon as the stock dropped, at first my waiting time was approx 1 hour, then within about 10 mins or so it dropped to 25 mins, then 5 mins, and back up to 1 hour.
The inevitable then happened with a notice popping up on the screen to say that all consoles had sold out for today, really disappointed at this as I had logged on as soon as the notification came up that they had stock. :(

Yes, SnoopZ, the ones I'm using are Stock Informer UK, which I now have as a notification on my iPhone via their Discord app, and I also use stock-checker.com, I've also submitted email alerts to various stores that sell the PS5.

Ashame it's so difficult for you, I would also have your account and credit card details stored in all the sites you check to make things quicker.

I guess if you get a notification you have to be on it in seconds as everyone else who is trying are doing the same.

Finally got my hands on a PS5 console today, it was a bundle but not one that was extremely expensive, I opted for an extra controller and a game that came with it, thanks for all the help. :)

Great news, if you decide you don't like white then the official black face plates make it looks far better, at least in horizontal mode!

Thanks again mate, I'll certainly ask you for help if needed, I appreciate your input, just to let you know, although I'm an old guy :p: I generally play games on my Laptop, the PS5 that I have just bought was a gift for my grandson, he has a PS4 at home and I've bought this one so that when he's with us and it's not a nice day outside, he can play with it here.

I'm on Premium until Sept 2024 as I had a live NOW sub, I'll probably downgrade to Extra after as we would still get all the good games.

Now what should I play first..?hmz maybe Guardians of the Galaxy and then Returnal, I need something not as intense as Elden Ring as I think I played that for nearly 400hrs straight.

A full kernel exploit basically gives you full control of the system so you can do anything you want as you have bypassed all the protection. Run any code you want that isn't cryptographically signed. On the PS4 it has opened up loading up linux on it, people have coded all sorts of tools, built in cheats menus you can bring up in games for extra ammo and stuff in singleplayer games, a homebrew media player which plays most video files direct from the hard drive, the ability to play 'backup' games and some lan networking stuff has been done too if I remember correctly.

A guy has shown a full exploit chain with kernel exploit on the PS5 and told Sony via Hackerone/a bug bounty so has got paid for showing them the vulnerability but has not made it public. So others are now trying to reproduce it themselves with the little knowledge they have on it, so its just a matter of time.

He also showed a vulnerability for a userland exploit with sandbox escape which is the first part before the full kernel exploit. Instead of it being a webkit/web browser exploit like most before, it uses the Java implementation used in bluray players for menus and interactive dvd/bluray games of which the PS3/PS4/PS5 all support and are vulnerable. That has already been reversed and is being used to dump files and information from the PS5, so things are moving along nicely. But these exploits won't work after 4.03 firmware.

The Bluray java exploit just needs a specially burnt bluray disk. The PS4 also has an exploit for firmware 9 which uses a specially formatted USB. Its great seeing these new novel attack methods. The PS5 is a lot harder to get a working exploit due to the security at level. Again its a matter of time in a similar way to how windows introduced things like memory address randomisation so exploits couldn't predicts where usable code was in memory to use but exploit writers have different ways to get around those.

Yes prices are dropping quick, I bought the 1TB Firecuda 530 last year for £160 it's alot cheaper now, I also have an old 2TB my passport HDD externally which gets used for PS4 games and PS5 cold storage.

Are you on the Extra or Premium tier? I plan to let my sub expire Sept 2024 then buy a 3 month Extra sub and then a 12 month sub during Christmas deals.

Have you upgraded to a PS5 yet it goes very well with a compatible TV and games play great at 60fps, I struggle to touch any gsmecthats only 30fps now?

No still on PS4 Pro. Not planning on PS5 for a while yet. Built a mega beast of a gaming PC in June so no real need for a new console just now.

Even when GTA VI launches I'll be waiting on the PC release.

I do like the new slim version however. If it got a price reduction I'll probably get one. Mainly wanted it for VR but I'll just get a quest 3.
