Un needed driver removal

I have downloaded the Device manager alternative from Nirsoft which lists a number of drivers such as my old Ryzen 2700x processor which i have since upgraded to a 3900XT.

What i'm asking is, is it safe to uninstall these un needed drivers and will it have any impact on my system performance?

Thanks.

I would use the old adage if it isn't broke don't fix it

Re: Un needed driver removal

If you uninstall a driver that is susequently needed the system will prompt you to re-install it.

Usually with some thing like "New hardware detected" and then either run the driver install wizard or if it can find the driver on the system a silent install with the final message "Your new hardware is ready to use"

That having been said the driver files are relatively small and if they're not needed then there's negligible impact on system performance.

There are scripts you can run to cleanup the driver store and claim back space, we've clawed back some 15-20gb on machines at work when we have run this before.
