All the big TV productions from both here and the US are available to us already, ofcourse with the exception of Sky Atlantic or Amazon original content, yet both these are readily available to via Smart tv or devices, albeit for a small charge.
I think surely we should be focusing on new prime and original content rather than having a hissy fit because we havent got the 300 odd channels of mindless repeats, shopping, and cross channel same programming, such as Sky provide, that some people seem to crave.
Quality over quantity.

Well said and welcome to the forum.

Without being controversial i want my EPG clogged up. I want more channels. I want daft channels. I want silly channels. I want to be drunk watching the dog channel or whatever.

At least i can justify price increases then.

At the moment the worst thing virgin media should do is go for original content on demand. Its terribly expensive and they would need to BID big money to beat the likes of sky and BT. What happens if they bid big? PRICE INCREASES!!

Look at the on demand content they've got exclusively. Absolute tosh. I bet some of the recent price increases were for that rubbish.

Give access to netflix and amazon and if people want additional stuff do it through there. Otherwise fill my EPG up with crap and let me enjoy

Indeed but that is the same with all the other platforms as well.

I'm not quite sure I understand where you're coming from there, Vince. You describe VM's exclusive 'on demand' content as 'absolute tosh' and yet you also indicate that you want the EPG filled up with any old junk! How does that make any sense?

Personally, I would like to see the rubbish junk channels weeded out altogether because to my mind, a subscription to a cable TV service should bring you quality viewing. However, it doesn't.

I remember the disappointment when we first got cable and could only find one thing that we liked on the very first evening. So £££s later, we ended up watching terrestrial TV that night.

It really shouldn't be like this. It should be more like the Netflix experience, where you have so much to watch, you don't know where to start.

So I say, get rid of the junk and concentrate on good quality programmes with as much choice as possible. That will inevitably reduce the number of channels but give you more genuine choice.

I'm afraid there's no room in my dream for 'The Dog Channel'! :p:

I agree with you about the dross channels for example Christmas day out of 145 channels only bbc1 was worth watching imo.
I think channel wise less is better.

I disagree, since I watched ITV (Harry Potter) and then SyFy (Tomb Raider).

Actually, I would say there has been very little worth watching over the Christmas period - and things I might watch I have seen before.

Broadcasters take the easy way out and show old programs or rubbish:td:

The first being a 2004 film that has been shown before a few times, and the second 2001, and ditto.

To be honest, Christmas TV was pants. The only new programme worth watching was Victoria on ITV (although my wife also wanted me to record 'Call the Midwife' on BBC1).

I really do think the pay TV channels need to step up. Their demise will be all the quicker if they continue to rely on repeats, old films, tired old dramas and comedies with gallons of dross.

Compare the offering of all those channels, for which we pay a small fortune, with Netflix at less than a tenner a month. Something is very unbalanced here.

This is precisely why we need a good choice of streaming services on the V6.

A) We launch this thread due to Media Boy HQ not being online on New Years Day.

B) Our Sources told us Sky Atlantic may appear on Virgin Media UK by mid 2018 but NOT in HD.

It won't be, infact expect a few channels to go.

We feel some channels from Sony, UKTV, CBS and Discovery channels will be axe in 2018.

We also feel Discovery may relaunch Travel Channel and DMAX as an one channel brand called "Alaska TV" after the takeover passed of Discovery's takeover of Scripps Networks Interactive.

Not really sure what your point is here - regardless of whether they have been on before, they were worth watching, and not on BBC1.
