Quick way of transferring programmes
Hello.
I have a Tivo box, also a Panasonic DVD connected to it. Engineer is coming to look at Tivo box (stuttering) and there is talk of changing the box, which I assume will destroy the stuff already on there. Fair enough, but I therefore need to transfer lots of programmes from the Tivo box to the Panasonic DVD/hard-disc. I'm doing it, one by tedious one. Is there a quicker way, or should I have thought of archiving the Tivo box before (!)? Thanks. Allen |

You can play a whole folder of recordings in one go. Simply press Play after highlighting the folder in My Shows.
I'd suggest not bothering for anything that is likely to be shown again in the near future, or is available from a VOD service. |

Thanks spider, on both counts. That'll help.

A thought.
I have two Tivo boxes, one on the blink, one fine. Would it be possible for a clever engineer (whose palm I’d crossed with say £100) to switch hard drives so I don’t lose all my recordings? Ta Allen, in London |
Re: Quick way of transferring programmes
The thing about TV is eventually what goes around comes around again and most of what you have recorded will be back again.

IIRC the encryption key used is tied to the specific STB. so swapping HDDs wouldn't work.

Virgin Media have different engineers in the kit return and refurbish process that are trained and employed to fix the box internals. |

Plus, usually when a box is on the blink, it's the hard drive itself that is failing. So you'd be moving the fault from one box to another. |
Re: Quick way of transferring programmes
Points taken. Is there anything on my hard drive that I can't live without?
Thanks for the input. Allen |
