PACE BOX invalid card

Telewest sent me a new card because the old card overheated inside the STB. So i tried the new card in the STB but the mesage 'the smartcard is invalid' keeps coming up but i still get the tv channels. I just press ok to remove the message. Also the middle light keeps flashing. The STB is a pace DI1010.

Phone Customer Services, thats the only way it'll get sorted, btw you might wanna get your name changed from your email address as it makes a great target for spam bots, and can be bad to have floating around on these sites for other reasons.

:welcome: to the site!

Re: PACE BOX invalid card

You need to find out if the card has been married to the box for the card to become valid.
Phone customer services and ask them to confirm the card number that has been entered on the system .
The middle light flashing is your return path light that will affect your interactive and ordering of movies.

i can still get my channels like sky one, mtv uk gold etc just the message your smartcard is invalid, you may not be able to view all the channels. i just have to press ok to exit to remove the message on the screen. but its a bit annoying.

have you called telewest?

you need to, because this is the only way to get it working on all of your subscribed channels.

will they ask for the STB to be returned.

Re: PACE BOX invalid card

The card and STB are usually paired. I've only ever seen this done by an engineer replacing the STB with a new installed card, not by the cable co just sending a card out. Thus an engineer should be sent to you.

Most cards are paired by ntl:telewest in a workshop.

Re: PACE BOX invalid card

Try cleaning chip on the card with a clean, dry cloth and reinserting it.

If that doesn't work, call Telewest and give them the card number and they can probably pair it to the box remotely. If that doesn't work either then they will likely send someone out to swap the box.

Re: PACE BOX invalid card

i called them and they said that they will send a signal to the STB. but the STB just displays PACE then ----. is it the card or the STB at fault.

Re: PACE BOX invalid card

Dunno, but tell them it still don't work and as you've been messed around now for a while trying to sort it it's time they sent you and engineer. And while you are calling ask them to reduce your bill for loss of service.

I agree with Rob C ,it looks like it is the box that is at fault ,insist they get someone out to see you .If you have no luck with that get back in touch .:)

Gem,
the box is at fault and needs changing, prob caused by overheating and the card reader in the box not able to read the card...

Do not put up with the crap from faults that an enginer is not needed..

no idea who is training these guys but they really need to be retrained...

Re: PACE BOX invalid card

Are you inserting the card in the right slot if that makes a difference. Try rebooting the STB.

The engineer came round and swapped the box and the card. so its all fixed only my STB was stuck on ch 890 and its showin this gay guy tellin me what to do when there are problems with the STB. I did another reboot and its now workin fine.
BTW the New STB is a PACE DI4000
