Direction - Actual Speed - True Speed (estimated) Downstream - 4669 Kbps (583.6 KB/sec) - 5042 Kbps (inc. overheads) Upstream - 483 Kbps (60.4 KB/sec) - 521 Kbps (inc. overheads) now, i was on the old 3mb line, i have not tryed to upgrade my line to any of the new speeds, so have NTL upped me to the 5mb line, am i reading this wrong, is there any thing i can do to check ? |

Think Ntl will upgrade you to a new modem eventually :)
|
Re: just did a speed test..
should i contact them or just wait :)

Re: just did a speed test..
They were flashed to a newer, capable firmware iirc. Don't quote me on that though.
Remove any router and try straight through if thats the case, Wireless B and 10mb half duplex wan ports won't give the full 10mb. |

Re: just did a speed test..
no router so it cant be that, there is no way i am paying them any money to upgrade me, ive been with NTL since they took over Diamond Cable (who were in my area) if they cannnot give something back to loyal customers they can stuff!
its no my fault their modem is not upto the job, a modem that i now have to rent off of them, where as when i 1st signed up they made you buy the thing, but then they changed everything so that modem was no good and i had to get one of theirs and rent it, putting my monthly bill up in the process! |
Re: just did a speed test..
My 120 works perfectly at 10Megs with the latest firmware.
Go here http://192.168.100.1/ (user name & password = root) & click on "operation configuration". The latest firmware is:- Software Upgrade File Name : ntlhm120_ntl0002.cpr |
Re: just did a speed test..
Network Access : Enabled Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 10240000 bps Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 512000 bps
Software Upgrade File Name : ntlhm120_ntl0002.cpr ---------- Post added at 14:25 ---------- Previous post was at 14:15 ---------- did a test on a different site (dsl reports) and got this Your download speed : 6464 kbps or 808 KB/sec. Your upload speed : 440 kbps or 55 KB/sec. this is the best speed test i seem to be able to get. |
Re: just did a speed test..
When I first got 10Megs, I must have done about a dozen speed tests from different sites. The variation in results was amazing. The worst result I got was around 60kbps!!! The best result I got was from here:- http://homepage.ntlworld.com/paul.ma...?1132451901933
Have you tried downloading a large file to see what speed windows shows? |

Re: just did a speed test..
That looks a lot like the kinda speeds you might get from 10 base half duplex ethernet. Check on the modem's configuration to see what it's on. If it's on 10 base half duplex on the ethernet port set it to 100mbit half or full duplex and set your ethernet card to match.

Re: just did a speed test..
hi, do you mean in Device Manager - Network card ?
if so i only have the option of 10mb half duplex or 10mb full or auto, its on auto at the moment. im not sure where i check the modem or how i should change it. |
